I like everything but I don't think he will need the Antec PSU. Just get a 450watt Fortron for $50 then your under $800 with a very very nice system. :D

Thanks for the fast replies. Yes i think the 6800 GS is the best choice, also what do you think of the list ive come up with:
The 6800 GS
Athlon 64 bit 3200+

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152 MOBO it has SLI. I want this because in about a year another 6800 GS would be nice.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811166004 Case it looks cool and has gotten good reviews. I also heard that installtion is easy.

I liked the corsair ram mentioned. 1 gig is nice and will do.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817709005 PSU i dont know much about these. I dont wanna spend over $50 on one.

HD- one of the ones mentioned.
optical drive- im not sure what to spend on one.

Wow, you guys are hooked on newegg, way too much. I'm sorry, but ZZF, Monarch, and a couple of other sites are VERY competitive with Newegg. And, MY GOD, what the heck does he need with those outrageous power supplies? An Antec 350W would suffice nicely.

This system is by far the best posted though I find problems with this setup. I'm not loving the motherboard because it's not name brand and the motherboard is the second most important component in a system, next to the PSU. I think the OP could easily just get the 3000+ venice mentioned above, which is this: CPU The DVD drive mentioned above is fine but is too expensive, newegg has the drive much cheaper at 38.99 instead of $50: DVD Drive.

Motherboard I'd get would be this:http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...PROD&Product_Code=110224&AFFIL=dt&NR=1
Despite it being more expensive than the rest of the boards mentioned, it's quite good and should be much more reliable than the rest.

And for the Video card, I'd get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133140
In order to stay on budget, otherwise if you want, you can get that X850XT

List of importance in a system (For reliability and performance too)
1. Powersupply
2. Motherboard
3. Ram
4. HDD (though I'd combine this with good driver set since HDDs for the most part are fairly reliable from all companies FOR THE MOST PART!!!)
5. Video card
6. CPU

CPU is last because they're the last to fail. Don't get technical and mention other erronious parts because thats just simply annoying.

System Shipped would be $795.24

Yes, that's a 7800GT in there. :D Please don't tell me I forgot anything. Do you already have a DVD drive?

If you absolutely must get under $800, substitute the hard disk for this one:
$73.50 - Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JB 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144203

But just spend that extra $4.01 and get the SATA HD, trust me. Yes, not all of these components are as solid as they could be, but I think I skimped in the right places. BF2 will take great advantage of the powerful graphics card.

What would be helpful to know is what monitor you have and the max acceptable resolution for you. You may want to put more money into something else if you don't need such a powerful graphics card. However the 7800GT is a good investment in the future. I just do not like the idea of getting an SM2.0 card (any X800 series) today for a gaming machine. It's going to bite you in the ass later.

Philippine Mango You're right about the burner, most of what i posted was a little old, they must have had a sale price at the time. Yeah, Newegg is usually the cheapest place to buy a dvd burner. I find ZZF and Monarch cheaper on memory. I usually use PriceWatch to find the best current deals.

Ditch whateveryone told you and get this:

Asus A8N5X (same as A8N but value version, same OC capabilities) $92
Venice 3200 OEM from ewiz $135
Thermalright SP9 w/80MM fan from SVC.com $32
Fortron AX450 450W PSU $50
WD 80GB SATA HD - $52
Corsair 1gb DDR400 ValueRAM $80
Connected 3d Radeon X800GTO PCI-E $180 (comes with $25 MIR)
BenQ 16xDVD-RW $38

Total without case (includes PSU) - $659

Pick your own case and add it in. THis setup should be able to give you 2.4ghz out of the Venice, X800XT speeds out of the GTO, and excellent FPS in F.E.A.R. at 1280x900 with high details (no softshadows though). YOu should add a Zalman GPU cooler for your video card and OC it to X850XT speeds btw.

Oh come on guys I can do better then that and cheaper, BUT I left out the video card, since tastes very greatly on these, but there is plenty of room here to pick something and keep the value under or right at the $800 range shipped too, because all the items are FREE shipping except the case from ZipZoomFly, that is as long as you are in the USA 48 states. So for shipping costs it's a pretty good deal.

Now granted the HDD is small, so a few bucks can bump that up or you can also bump the PSU up to 550W mand still walk away with a nice video card as well. NOW this is one tough beast with good quality parts too boot!

---------> Subtotal: $558.77

GPU limited, that 6600gt is weak in delivering framerates at higher res especially if you want to turn most of the features on. I believe a new system should at least be able to deliver on that. Although it IS a budget system, but what's the point if it won't run the latest at high detail? Save your money and wait till you can afford a better vid card or skimp on the rest of the system that's my stand.

Depending on how much money you have, you can either select the higher end components or the lower end components I mentioned. But if your going to buy anything, buy from the list I compiled because I don't trust the idea of having a low end motherboard or power supply because they're the most important components in your system. But, to make things easier, I'll give you the price of three system configurations you could have out of the list I compiled.

System #1: $809.65; thats with the following components, 1,2,4,5,6,7,11,13
System #2: $760.48; thats with the following components, 1,3,4,5,7,8,9,13
System #3: $814.48 thats with the following components, 1,3,4,5,7,8,12,13
Remember, you'll need the FDD to install your SATA drivers unless of course you've got a FDD of your own so be sure to include that.
System #3 is the close to $800 AND it comes with a 7800GT!
System #2 is $40 under the $800 budget and is your cheapest GOOD system.
System #1 has the second best video card and has better motherboard than system number #2 and #3.

And if you REALLY want/have the money, you could make a system #1 and just replace it with a 7800GT, but that'd cost you $857.65

If I wanted to build a system, I'd probably go with one of these selections and nothing else, these systems should all overclock well, especially the DFI system.
