Hi I think I Fried My CPU

On two mobos, A7V8X and the A7N8X computer turns on without any sounds, the keyboard doesn't work, and there is no picture on the monitor. I have tried changing FSBs, Video Cards, Memory (switched between Kingston and Corsair), and now motherboards.

Does this mean my CPU is fried?
Thanks for any help.

On the A7V8X, you would want the end of the heatsink clip that has a screwdriver receptacle to be on the right side of the CPU, facing the DIMM slots. On the A7N8X, you would want the screwdriver end of the clip at the top, facing the top of the case. Did you perhaps reverse the heatsink when installing it on the A7N8X? If the screwdriver side of the clip was at the bottom, facing the AGP slot, then that may have been the end of the CPU.

How do I turn on the ASUS report thing?
Yeah, I will try to frantically clear the CMOS many times. Right now, I am in a state where I could through the whole thing into the trash. But I am almost certain that the CPU is dead, because I think its not from overclocking, its from when I moved it to the other board and my cat was nearby 🙂 i think the static discharge had its way. By the way, I happened to notice what you said about the direction of which the processor. How would that then affect the boot of my computer : can it detect that the CPU heatsink is not attached properly?

With the heatsink backwards, the heatsink can't land on the CPU core, which then overheats. Both of your boards are designed to shut off the CPU if it's signalling an overheat condition, but if you repeatedly force the issue, you may damage the CPU anyway. Once the CPU is dead, the board will probably remain running as you're describing, and you would get "System Fail CPU Test!" from the onboard speech reporter of the A7V8X, via the rear audio-out jack (the standard A7N8X doesn't feature Speech Reporter, but the Deluxe does).

yepp... system failed CPU test. system failed CPU test. system failed CPU test. system failed CPU test. system failed CPU test. my cpu is definitly fried
