I've been out of the loop for a while and I'm in need of a laptop. I don't know which to get because it seems as if so much has changed. I was looking into Dell because they have some pretty sweet deals. However I'm pretty confused on which laptop is right for me. So I have a few questions for you guys. What is the difference between the M processor, Centrino, and P4? Also what is the difference between the Latitude and Inspirion models? Are there any other companies that I should look into? I was looking into Sony and Toshiba but they all seem pretty pricey and I can't afford those as I'm a college student without a job. I'm looking for something on the lines of 2.0ghz, 512mb ram, decent video card....something better then the ATI 8500 I'm running on now, CD and DVD player (burner not necessary), floppy drive, and a ethernet card is a must(nonwireless). Thanks for the help guys.

This might be more than you want to spend, but HERE is one of my current favorites. That brand new UXGA screen owns.

pentium M > p4
pentium 1.6M = p4 2.6+ in performance -- correct me if im wrong guys :)

plus its more power saving (big + for the batteries) and has built in wireless networking

Built-in wireless networking is only a given to the Centrino branded stuff and that's only because it has the intel minipci card in its belly. It's not built onto the cpu or anything like that. Though Most pentium M's will come with some sort of internal wireless anyways as these are at least mid-level systems and not bottom of the barrel.
