Hey all first of all i been getting so much info and help from this forum from years ago and decided to finally join. Thank you for such useful infos!

Now my advice im looking for is for 3 rigs i need to make. And im not really familiar with overclocking and cooling but been learning alot past couple of weeks. Also english isnt my first language so please excuse my bad grammar and spelling time to time.. SO>>>>!!!

I Started out with a 2 duo core e8400 lol than 1366 i-930 than decided to upgrade than wounded up building 3 PC because my nephews sold me some nice parts for cheap. Than i went computer crazy and kinda fell in love as a hobby, just like hooking up my car lol.

I need to build 3 PC Desktops. 1 somewhat GREAT computer for home studio (making beats/music/recording/cubase/ableton) needs realy fast loading of programs so going all ssds + 1 2tb HDD?. Lowest latency if possible! and 1 PC above average computer for games, movies, internet everything BUT music. 3rd one is for my parents just to watch dvds and youtube and etc.. lol

Which part to sell and which part to buy?

Any help or input would be appriciated. Thank you in advance!

Parts im working with on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Mobo's:
Gigabyte ga x58a ud3r (1366)
Gigabyte x79s up5 wifi (2011) Ordered!
Wofldale D1777 something??

CPU's:
1x1366 Socket i7 i-930
1x2011 Socket i7 3930k Ordered!
1x???? Socket Core 2 Duo E8400

SSD/HDD:
3 x Corsair Force GS 240gb 2 new 1 used (3 weeks)
2 x Plextor M5Pro 256gb 1 new 1 used (2 weeks)
4 x Western Black Cavier 7200rpm 2tb 3 new 1 used (2 weeks)
1 x Western 5400rpm 1tb used
2 x External Hardrive 2tb each used

Debating to sell these and get 512 mbs? All brand new just open box for display from store. Should i just use them or sell and get 512gb's?
I heard samsung pro 840 is best ssd.
Any advice on how i should set two PC with these ssds/hdd or selland rebuy? And maybe throw 1 ssd in the old e8400 PC? or is the western black enough?

GPU's:

2 x Zotac GTX 680 AMP 2gb Ordered!
1 x NVIDIA GTC 660 Ti 3gb
1 x Asus GTS 450 1gb? 2gb?
1 x 6890? Radeon? 1gb?

Going SLI on GTX 680 on 1 pc and probably selling the 660ti or gts 450

PSU's:

Raidmax 1000w 80 Gold plated
Antec 520w 80 Copper plated
Antec 550w

Memory Rams's:

2 x 2gb ddr2 ram (e8400)
3 x 2gb Giel 1600mhz 7-7-7-24 ran before upgrading to 24gb below:
Currently on i930=6 x 4gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 (24gb maxed X58 board)

Debating to buy for the x79s MOBO either 64gb ram MAX:
8 x 8gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz (c10 model) 10-10-10-27 (can get it much cheaper than the model (c9) 9-9-9-24 reason choosing this c10 model not c9)
or
8 x 4gb Corsair dominator gt 2133mhz ? Is this compatible? Is 64gb ram at 1600mhz > 32gb at 2133? Vice versa?

For the 3930k + x79s board

Case:

Rosewill THOR V2 Bought it for my gigabyte x79s MOBO
Irwin full tower thats sitting my gigabyte ga x58 ud3r
Some huge red full tower

Fan:
Only stock fan and Coolermaster h20? the heatsink and fan and 4 fans currently on each cases.

Monitors:

3 x 32 inch samsung LED 1080p 60hz 120CFM
3 x 40 inch samsung LED 1080p 60hz 120CFM
1 x 55 inch samsung LED 3D 120hz 240CFM
2 x 21 inch Dell Monitors

I want to go water cooling route. Can someone explain or let me know what i can buy to keep 2of the cases in stable temputure with overclocking?

Planning to OC the 3930k to around 4~4.4?ghz ish and the i-930 to 3~3.8?ghz ish or more if possibly stable. And IDK what to do with the e8400..It does run stable lol..Probabaly not overclock it. Just make it useable for my moms and pops.

ANY INPUT or advice would be so much helpful.

Thank you!!

tell us about your car
LOL
I have a e92 335xi with all bolt ons and jb4 tune. Approx 420whp on 93 octane.
And recently just traded in my lexus es350 daily car and got a 2011 Subaru STI completely stock used.
Planning to aim for 450whp+ on stock turbos and rebuilt engine forged pistons.
And maybe 800whp+ on a larger single turbo later on.

NOW any advice for my computer rig? =(

Imo I would sell the HD6890 Radeon, use the 660ti and put the 450gt into your parents pc.

But the 660ti would sell faster and closer to its original value!

HDDs and ssds you can give your parents 1 ssd and 1 hdd.build your systems then later sell/give away what ever you dont use.

Dont know much about ocing and cooling the 3930k so I cant help there.

btw congrats on snagging the STI!

Your PSU choices are weak. I'd look at the XFX line. They are all made by Seasonic or the Antec High current lines since they are made by Delta. Some other units by Super Flower are good too (High end OCZ, Kingwin etc)

Why the X79 board and CPU? Are you gonna run more than two video cards, if not id suggest a IVY bridge or Sandy Bridge board and CPU. My old i5 2500K did over 5500Mhz on a Asus Z68 Gene Z, and it had everything. The money you would save could go for water cooling solution, your parents build Id suggest a modest 775 socket motherboard, and your mid range I'd suggest an i5 none K CPU with plenty of over clocking potential and not a lot of pocket pain.
Need more details ask! Cheers!

I agree. The PSUs are the weakest link. Even if the label says 1000W, if it says "Raidmax", it's junk.

The Antec PSUs, can you give us an accurate model number for them, not just the wattage, and can you give us approximate ages for them? PSUs degrade over time, and some of the older Antec models weren't always the greatest.

Their current line-up is pretty solid these days though.

I think it's clear, you want one 1366 rig, one 2011 rig, and one "parent" rig.
The Socket 775 CPU, GT450, Socket 775 mobo (no overclocking?), and one of the Antec PSUs should be good. I would get them a smaller case (if that mobo is the ASRock one I'm thinking of, it should be micro-ATX).

Is this your board?
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Wolfdale1333-D667/

It has an older 945GC chipset, and does not support quad-cores. Only 667 memory support. (?)

geeks.com currently has refurbed Intel P45 boards with four DDR2 slots, and two PCI-express x16 (x8/x8) slots for $35. You might check that out.

If you are going to give the parents the Wolfdale board, def. put that GT450 in, because the onboard GMA950 really sucks.

Yea i thought being 1000watt is stable enough lol. Maybe i should use this 1000w and order a nice 850w corsair or 1000watt antec down the road.
Thanks!

Well the board i can get at almost half the cost at around $155 dollars x79s board is which is why my choice is leaning towards that.

The 3930k i ordered because i thought it was the most TOP TIER thats not INSANELY expensive like the 3060k. And the i 930 i already had from about 2 years ago.

So the MOBO x79s i didnt buy yet but kinda made up my mind becuase i was looking for a MOBO that i can fit two 3 slot GPU in SLI setup with the Zotac 3 slotted GTX680 AMP GPU in PCI-E .16's slots.

And all this water cooling is kind off intimiating to me . lol Maybe im thinking to try to fit a h100/h100i/h90/h60 CPU water cooler just for the CPU and go air cooling for the rest. There is only space on top of the case enough for radiatiors under 230 in size Or just go AIR cooling. or get a small CPU water cooler.

So music will be the x79s board pretty much and x58 for gaming and 775 for parents.
Thanks!

Yes the old 775 rig is in a smaller case and has 2 sticks of 2gb ram 667mhz. so ill put the gt450 in the wolfdale board
Two AMP gtx680 in the main computer and
single GTX 660 ti in the second main computer.

So now i need a idea on if i should go air cooling for all or water for cpu and air for rest.. And power supply for antect not sure of model number ill check at home but is about 1 years old and the raidmax was brand new about a week old.
