Without more info, my best guess would be replace the CMOS battery. No matter if it is new, some boards ship with poor quality batteries. Easy to find and fairly inexpensive. Local stores should have them or even Radio Shack.

hey ill check the batt and further more i tried reflashing the bios and when i go to the flash command it tells me that system bios does not have flash support. Does this reinforce the dead battery hunch or am i doing something else wrong?:|

Could be that you just need to enable the BIOS update setting in your BIOS. Check the manual for a setting for that. If you can't find it LMK. Bottom line though, if you keep losing your settings (like the onboard sound re-enabling) and getting checksum errors, it is likely that it is the battery. Flashing the BIOS may help but try the battery first.

No, you don't necessarily need a "testor" for it but I will say that this is the first time I've heard of anyone using their tongue to test one. :Q How did you do that?? I mean it is a coin style battery. Wait, maybe I don't want to know. ;) Anyway, I'd go ahead and invest in a new one; tongue or no tongue.
Look in the BIOS for something referring to BIOS update or System update, etc. Anything that remotely sounds like that.

And......keep your tongue off the hardware! ;):p
