Churches can and do work with the government on tons of different issues on a constant basis, including providing funding for health efforts.
Churches can work with government agencies. They can contribute as they like. That's not what's happening here. The government is
soliciting.
They should have written the law with the idea in place that a radicalized minority in government would not only continually demagogue against already passed law for the better part of two years but then do everything possible to make its implementation as difficult as possible, even if that meant denying health care to their own constituents?
IIRC, there was substantial objection to this bill before going to the SCOTUS. A great many didn't want. It isn't surprising that under those circumstances the opposition party would work to prevent implementation. It was perfectly foreseeable.
I'd suggest keeping this in mind when UHC comes up. No one is going to back down, but it would be nice if someone came up with a health care solution with reform, not political gain in mind. I submit that our political system makes that impossible, and a great many would never have it otherwise.
