Fox News bit

Anyone have any more info on this technology? IE more info on how it works, how it's being marketed, etc.

On the surface it of course seems awesome, but none of these surprise alternative fuel technologies ever seem to deliver on their promises.

Similar or same has been touted before. This isn't anything new or revolutionary at all, water isn't really the power source, electricity is.

Electrolysis is painfully slow and horribly inefficient in most any case. It can be sped up (racing slug?) if you add an electrolyte to the water. The icing on the cake here is that most strong electrolytes are not something you want to be around :). If you want some further reading on this, go look up the definition of snake oil.

Or check out the Mythbusters episode, where they investigated all the supposed "will get you X% more mileage" myths. This was one of them......and it continues to fool people!!

I think they should make a car that runs on AIR. Just think about how much easier it would be since you wouldn't even have to have a tank for fuel. You could just have an intake valve that lets it into your engine. Someone should get a patent for this.

there is no free lunch. There is no free lunch. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH

This topic is a repost as there where several "water powered car" threads. And before you say "HHO is different from H2O" No, it is not, there is no way for it to be different Chem 101.

The next problem comes in two forms, one Hess's law which states simply that a reaction will always absorb/give off the same amount of energy. So if you break apart water the BEST you can do is recover the energy used to break the water apart. you will never have a net gain.

Next is a law of thermal dynamics which states that energy can't be created or destroyed. Plan and simple, you can't just collect the water from your tail pipe and keep siphoning it to the gas engine, it just doesn't work.

So remember kids, if it sounds too good to be true. it probably is. Chalk this right up there with perpetual motion machines for how ridiculous it is. (I have some water pills for you, you just add a cup of water and BAM you have a cup of water!)
