Hmm...I know it says..."Input Plug: 3.5mm stereo plug" but the plug in that picture is only a 2 ring plug.

2 rings would mean it's a stereo plug. mono plugs only have 1 ring.

The additional ring is for either a microphone, a remote control, such as a mute button or in Apple's case they used it for power for their mics.
