Here are the specs of the computer -

Athlon 2500
ECS n2u400-a
512 mb OCZ pc 3200
BFG fx 5900
wd 40 gb hd
enermax 300 watt psu

This computer has been working great for a couple of months. Now, just today, when I tried to power it on, I get nothing! I reset the cmos, changed ram, changed the video card, unplugged and repluged everything back in to no avail! What should I do?

Does it do anything at all? Do LED's illuminate, does the cup fan turn? Here's a great Troubleshooting Link for starters, I would pay particular attention to the power switch and power supply as possible culprits. Once you've eliminated them from the list of likely suspects it's fairly easy to determine whether you've got a faulty mobo or not.

when you say power it on and get nothing, do you mean nothing happens at all? do the fans spin up at all and the box turn on or does absolutely nothing happen? if nothing happens at all, you may want to check your jumpers. maybe your power sw jumper came loose or out. check between your board and your case and make sure no screw or anything metal fell between them. you may be getting a short. did you try another PSU?

How old is the motherboard?
Quick check shows it's an nForce2 board. Hopefully it wouldn't be bulging capacitors on the board then.
When you say "nothing" do you mean "no POST" or "absolutely nothing"?
I'll second the notion that maybe the PSU decided to die.

Having seen it numerous times, I'd start by shorting the power on pins with a screw driver because case power buttons go bad at times. PSU then board are next in the list of usual suspect. You just have to use a good methodology when TSing no boot issues. You have made a good start now it's the rest of the list.

I power the compuer up, all fans spin, the video cards fan spins and illuminate, the aero 7 on the processor spins, the HD spins etc. The problem is, my monitor will just stay in standby while my HD led indicator stays constantly lit. It is weird because it has been working great for a couple of months. My first guess is the motherboard since ecs is not the greatest manufacturer. I really doubt that my enermax PSU would go out or my proc. burn up.

Given those symptoms and the TS you've done, it looks like the board alright. You could try barebones, unplugging the system, hitting the power button to discharge the caps, setting the CMOS to clear position, popping the battery, waiting 10 minutes, then put the battery back, set the jumper to default, and trying to boot again. I've used that with a no boot nF2 before and it recovered it. Other than that I'd say it's time to RMA.

Definitely try a new Video Card in there if you can. Thats what it sounds like to me, had a problem a couple of years ago with a Visiontek GeForce 4600 going out like that. Just one day, no video.

He mentions he tried another vid card in the first post 😉 The monitor idea is good, low percenatge but it happens.
