Hi all,

I've just picked up a Canon HF-10 and am looking for a wide angle adapter. Right now, I'm looking at the Raynox HD-5050 and I think that Kaido mentioned a Merkury that was pretty good, but those are kind of hard to find in 37mm. Is it possible to get a larger lense and use an adapter?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

You can get step up/down rings that will adapt 37mm to 40/42/47 whatever. I have an hf100 and have been looking for a wide angle and the Raynox or the Canon branded look like the best bet

Thanks Drakkon! I think I'm going to try the Merkury 52mm and see what it's like. If it doesn't work out, I'll go with either the Raynox or the Canon.

I have a Merkury (the wide-angle/macro combo), the cheap one from Amazon for like $35 or whatever, and it's pretty good. It gets a little fuzzy at full zoom and it's a bit, hmm, more "glowy" than the stock lens, but it works really well for the price! Here's a little sample with the macro lens:

Make sure you get plenty of light, because the viewfinder will make it look like you have more light than really shows up on video! (at least with my HV20 using the Macro lens!)

Thanks Kaido! I should get the Merkury wide angle/macro combo in a few days. On a side note, the parts for my Hack should come in soon and I'm going to need it since I found that iMovie and FCE won't allow me to edit AVCHD files on my dual G5. Gotta have an Intel Mac.
