Hezbollah Poised to Strike?

Intelligence agencies in the United States and Canada are warning of mounting signs that Hezbollah, backed by Iran, is poised to mount a terror attack against "Jewish targets" somewhere outside the Middle East.
Intelligence officials tell ABC News the group has activated suspected "sleeper cells" in Canada and key operatives have been tracked moving outside the group's Lebanon base to Canada, Europe and Africa.

Officials say Hezbollah is seeking revenge for the February assassination of Hezbollah's military commander, Imad Mugniyah, killed by a car bomb in Damascus, Syria.

The group's leaders blamed Israel, an allegation denied by Israeli officials.

There is no credible information on a specific target, according to the officials.

Suspected Hezbollah operatives have conducted recent surveillance on the Israeli embassy in Ottawa, Canada and on several synagogues in Toronto, according to the officials.

The big glaring red flag in this is the statement that these "attacks" will be backed by Iran. Is this propaganda to get the war drums rolling again or is this a credible threat? You decide.

Hezbollah is not Al Queda. Why would they do such a thing? Quite frankly the whole story sounds phoney.

Standard vague and anonymous fearmongering- page 1 of the bushistas' playbook. Expect the Terrar! colorwheel to spin to red, orange, magenta or pink several times as we approach the election...

Sasquatch is planning an attack, too, according to the same sources, so, uhh, be afraid, be very afraid...

Reminds me, I need to pick up season two of Sleeper Cell.

It's not the best show I've ever seen, but it'll give me my fix of terrorist/counter-terrorist mayhem until 24 comes back on the air in January.

F**king writer's strike.

Well, IMHO the alram bell is ringing a little too early in the season. Rove's timing seems a little off this time around. Or maybe the neocons are the only ones in a panic in their own little world and feel it really IS the time to start their own little version of Scare Tactics.

"Baer says his Hezbollah contacts told him an attack against the US was unlikely because Iran and Hezbollah did not want to give the Bush administration an excuse to attack. "

Obviously situation would be different if Obama was President - the sheep in sheep's clothing.

Why is it anyway that anti US and anti-Israel factions love Obama anway?

Celebrate the writer's strike. It was very inconvenient, but that's how writers get fair compensation, and that's how we get good shows. Be glad the labor system worked.

I dunno, why is it we prefer to see responsible leaders elected to replace evil, reckless leaders? Maybe Chavez, for example, prefers one who doesn't attack their democracy?

also notice from reading this propaganda piece that they mention Hezbollah being blamed for attacks on Jewish communities in Argentina but they fail to mention that this is merely an allegation as there is no investigation concluding Hezbollah was to blame. Usually news organizations when mentioning suspects who are accused of something but not convicted are prefaced with the wonderful word "alleged", however I guess when it comes to propaganda and misleading people they may omit that

Fail. Iran backs Hezzbolah, no whaere does it suggest that Iran backs any of these Attacks alleged in the warning. If Attacks are even going to occur is an entirely different question.

Frankly, the only difference I see between them is that Hezbollah makes Israel its first priority.

Both of them are crazed organizations.

OK, from the same article:

"Hezbollah would not carry out an attack in the west, or wherever this attack is going to occur, without approval from Tehran," said Baer, the former CIA intelligence officer.

So, fail = sandorski. I cannot be held responsible for your inability to read the linked source.

I thought Hezbullah's battles (Hamas too) were with Israel and the border and not the West? I don't think AQ and Hezbullah (Hamas) even share the same ideology (maybe even the muslim sect)

Looks like the Targets would be Israeli Interests. Possibly an Embassy or Embassy Official.

1) Is there a legit reason to detain the people?

2) By allowing them to travel, their contacts can be discovered (unless they are on vacation). From intelligence viewpoitn, this is best

3) Because one draws maps of an area, in itself is not justifiable to stop them. Regretfully, they must actually do damage to be detained. Remember the so-called cell in Fla that was busted before they could do anything.

Hezbollah is anti Israel - Iran is just a sponsor of them.

Example:
DarkThinker supposts Hezbollah. Is he an operative? If he travel to Canada, should he be detained because he supports Hezbollah?

The same goes for The Green Bean w/ respect to the Taliban.

Because a person opinions may go against ones grain, in most Western countries, they can be leary, but the person must do wrong before being stopped.

Not in this forum it seems. Simply being arab and near a combat zone is reason enough, for some people here, to haul you off to gitmo. And of course being in gitmo is proof enough that you're a filthy terrorist, so you're going to stay there until Terror? is defeated.
