Hey you jazz people

My jazz exposure is limited to older stuff.
Monk
Coltrane
Brubeck

Want to listen to some newer things.

Thanks in advance for your input. Merry Christmas to all.

There are a number of people here who like The Bad Plus. Keith Jarrett's a classic but he's still alive and touring so I don't know how that fares.

I tend to stick to the classics as well, so I'm not too much of a help 😛

Well "jazz" is wide open term too. Lots of different types. It's like saying "I like rock music"

I'm not to up on newer stuff, but you simply can't go wrong with the classics like Anita O'Day, June Christy, Keaten, Calloway and the likes. That is some great great shit.

Check out Branford Marsalis and Roy Hargrove. I'm with you though, I really need to expand my jazz collection.

Listening to Bad Plus now. Nice tight sound.

Thanks Feanor727. I caught Bela Fleck a few years ago at the University of Buffalo. I forgot about him. Will sample Blanchard.

Pulling down some Hargrove as I type.

Thanks all

I'm not a jazz purist, and so I tend to prefer the smooth jazz genre. This includes artists such as:

Paul Hardcastle (Jazzmasters)
Peter White
Chris Botti
Keiko Matsui
Candy Dulfer
Fattburger
Marc Antoine
Euge Groove
Soulride
Richard Elliot

And so forth.

Jane Monheit
Sophie Milman
Randy Brecker
Jon Faddis
Joshua Redman
Joe Lovano
James Carter
Lewis Nash

Some that aren't as new

Arturo Sandoval
Clark Terry
Joe Henderson
Charles Mingus
Sonny Rollins
Dizzy Gillespie (listen to his funk fusion stuff for newer styles)

Let me knoe if you want some more suggestions.

Herbie Hancock -- Headhunters
the Mahavishnu Orchestra (one of my favorite bands) check out their albums Birds of Fire and Visions of the Emerald Beyond
Chick Corea -- Now He Sings, Now He Sobs (probably one of the greatest jazz albums ever)
Return to Forever (Chick Corea) -- Return to Forever
Miles Davis (anything, Kind of Blue, Milestones, all of it)
Weather Report is good
