Hey, who wants to help me design a new computer desk?

I'm looking to design and build my new computer desk soon. I've got some general ideas for a new desk for my computer room. I'm looking at doing a corner desk similar to this desk but I want mine to be MUCH deeper as far as how deep the desktop is. This one is maybe an 18-24 inch desktop at best. I was something that's like 30-36 inches and of a fairly simple design, but one that will allow me to have a lot of stuff on top of the desk. Ideas and suggestions are welcome. I'll build my own overhead when the time comes. Right now I'm just concentrating on the desk itself.

Anyone wanna take a shot at suggesting some designs or layouts? The one I listed is one possibly, but I'm open to plenty more. The only stipulations I have is it needs to fit into a corner and it needs to have lots of table top room. Thanks.

well, keyboards dont fit into corners very well, unless you get a corner mount keyboard. you gonna pick a side for the keyboard to go on, or not?

Actually, my keyboard doesn't go in a tray. I use it right on the desktop. Part of the reason I like deep desks.

On a serious note: If you have a bunch of corner space, here's how I would do it. Put the monitor, keyboard, mouse and chassis on the shorter side, make the desk up to 4' deep (mine's 4 and I love the viewing distance), and extend the other side as far as possible so you can put the printer, scanner, junk, etc. there. In fact, if you're like me, you won't have enough space even then so I would suggest an open cabinet mounted to the wall above the monitor.

yeah, sound is important here. you could mount your surround sound system rears out of the cieling, though, and then put your comp on the shorter side, and put the comp itself under the desk... i prefer the keyboard be off the desk, but i also like BIG desks.

my current desk is about 7 feet long...

there's a picture of it somewhere on these boards... me too lazy to find it... :p

No surround sound. Just simple 3 piece speaker setup. Most of my music I listen to doesn't require a high level sound system. :D
