Hey, where do you all go for computer help?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering.

Now, working under the assumption that most people here are "that computer guy" inside their little circles of friends, I am wondering...where do you go when you need computer help? Some forum? Usenet? Those triple CCIEs on your buddy list?

I just thought of this because I had a networking question floating in my head and had no idea where to go for an answer.

I'll try Google web and news searches, but it usually just comes down to tinkering with it until I get it fixed or create an acceptable workaround. I can't think of anybody I've tried asking for decades who's suggested anything I hadn't checked right off the bat and eliminated.

Yeah. I try to figure out the answer myself using whatever resources the internet gives me. If not that, I go to anandtech.

google and/or AT depending on the problem at hand.

depends what the problem is. sometimes AT, but other times it's a lot faster to ask a coworker.

I work for a hosting company, so all our departments are pretty specialized -- windows support, unix support, networking, and the data center (hardware support, I guess). all it takes is a phone call and I'm talking to someone who almost definitely knows what the solution to my problem is.
