Just as you are guilty, so am I apparently (ie., neither of us are).
I fired up CS last night and joined an ongoing cs_747 match as a Terrorist (autoassign). I haven't played T on that map since the early 6 betas since I'm usually CT, but I was cleaning up on it. Grabbed a Colt off of a CT that presented his forehead to my MP5 and leaped to 17-0 or close to that.
Then, a punk says something in the open about cheating. I started laughing and just said "Yep, I'm cheating all right" to which he responded, "It's pretty obvious". What am I supposed to do when these idiots climb up stairs with their heads down, walk through doors nice and slowly (from the cockpit after they've broken glass loudly), run everywhere making tons of noise, and are just too slow and inaccurate with their guns?
In one instance, I stumbled on a CT in the lobby area while holding a grenade but he was doing the same thing. I tossed mine behind him and he promptly backed into the blast, producing a pistol while shooting at where I was before I circled around him and capped him with my now-carried Colt. Duh. With players like that, who needs to cheat?
I finished up at 25-3, but I guess I'm a cheater now.
I'll take it as a compliment. I haven't seen anyone that I knew was cheating for some time though some guy last night looked like he was using some sort of timescale cheat (ala Quake3, does that exist?). He had a sub-90 ping but looked like he was moving in spurts, like a very high ping player. Don't know that it was, but it looked odd. Otherwise, I have seen some very good players but don't remember a cheater since my beta time when a guy could get headshots with almost every single round.
Crappy players can be funny sometimes.
