I wouldn't buy either. But if you are limited to these 3, go with the Panasonic. On a side note, this is the WRONG place to ask for thing kind of advice. You will get BAD advice here. No offence to anyone, but i'm bettin the SONY will win by far on the poll, even though there isn't a home theater expert out there that would recommend it. My usual advice: head over to AVSForum.com.

Well I have had some bad experiences with Sony myself, so I picked the Panny. By the way, don't forget to budget some money for an ISF calibration.

how much are these sets? I got my parents the Toshiba 42H81 for not too much money. Lots of people say it's got the best bang for the buck... also d1abolic is right, if you want home theater advice, this isn't really the place to go... try http://www.hometheaterspot.com. They already probably have your question answered there.

I would stay away from Panasonic. Their quality has deteriorated GREATLY in the last few years. They used to make top quality electronics. Now their products are pure junk. Most of them should never have made it in to production due to HUGE design flaws.

I have tried 2 new Panasonic products in the last year and both are/were full of design flaws. They were not defects as I have heard of plenty of other people with the same problems. My Panasonic TV has two problems. One is, for some weird reason it will not always power cycle properly. For ex. if it is off and press the power button it may turn on and off really quick. Or if it is on and I press the power button it may turn off and back on. I thought it may be a bad button but it happens with 3 different remotes as well as the button on the TV itself. My other problem with it is the remote is mislabeled. Two of the buttons are labeled wrong. It's not a big problem but it proves that no one even looked the thing over before it went into production.

As for my Panasonic VCR (which I just could not stand and returned), my biggest complaint is the rewind/fast forward functions were VERY VERY VERY loud. They could easily wake the dead. Everyone complained about that problem. I don't know how they expect people to stand it. You would not believe how loud it is until you hear it (I'm serious). That thing would make a Delta fan seem silent! Not to mention the thing had very few features. It also didn't even rewind tapes that fast. It took over 2 minutes to rewind a tape. I replaced it with a Samsung VR-9260 and have been perfectly happy ever since.

Haha, SONY is winning by a wide margin. So predictable. People hear SONY, a name they associate with quality because of their ads, and vote for it simply because they've seen more ads for SONY than for the other two. Ah well. Personally, i would buy a projector instead of an RPTV. But if i had to buy an RPTV, i would probably go with a Toshiba.

what are you talking about the panasonic rp-56 is one of the best progressive scan dvd players on the market: and its only about $200, the panasonic tubes are nearly flat and they are a great price, in fact the picture is nicer then the sony's trinitron tube in my opinion.

Well, I also vote for Panasonic. Their products are usually of very high quality and reliable, while many people curse Sony TVs for dying suddenly. Frankly speaking, Sony TVs have a better image quality, IMO. But considering their unreliabilty I'd go with Panasonic instead.
