so I thought I'd tidy up and rearrange the folders on the shared GIS data drive. No need to thank me.

I also took the liberty of deleting files which have not been accessed in over 6 months since we obviously don't need them

Now I'm imagining ATOTers working at the County Recorder's Office.

"Hi, I need a copy of the deed to my house."

"Year please."

"1975"

"NECRO!"

Since you made the changes my printer doesn't work anymore. Can you take a look at the printer or undo the changes you made?

JHCWAP! They're doing it again, wholesale this time! Tomorrow morning over 5,000 employees will wake up to busted GIS projects. I guess the files had been there awhile and users were getting complacent.

Everytime the GIS manager makes any changes to any shared drives, mxd's or feature classes, our GIS server goes down for a minimum 24 hours.

Have some more fun: Download Everything, then set it up to index that drive's files. Have a look around.
I'm sure your IT department won't mind the daily drive churning when it's indexing. ;) (Or whenever it's set up to do the indexing.)

I did that so I could efficiently search for files on the server at work, which has been a big help for me. It's an extremely useful tool - everything that the Windows 7 search tool could have been.

In the process, I came across roughly 10GB of scattered .tmp and .temp files there, some more than 10 years old. o_O

I straighten up the server when I want to kill some time. I don't know what some of the stuff is, and no one else does either. I know if I delete though, it'll get remembered six months later.
