would there be a huge difference (as far as any sort of physical/healthy issues) between ingesting coffee or just taking straight caffeine pills?

would it just cut out any of the extra stuff in coffee to decide "hey! ill start popping a pill every morning rather than dragging a cup of coffee with my for half the morning while doing my runs"
or would i die of a heart attack after a couple months?

Half of the "power" of coffee is the ritual it creates and helps you get your routine going in the morning.

i guess thats true.
but...i dont know. i used to work at a cafe back in college and i never really got into drinking coffee in the morning until recently. my "power" ritual in the morning seems to have more to do with getting a shower.
however, could i not just condition myself in the same way with a morning preparation of pill-taking?

You could also actually address the problem at hand instead of band aid'ing it. Go to bed earlier. Exercise. Try to set up a solid sleep schedule. Ect.

All popping a nodoze in the morning will do is make you build up a tolerance to the point it's no longer effective.

1. its not really a problem like "i am sleepy and i cant be awake. let me get some coffee." i just enjoy drugs.
2. the tolerance, again, is the same as coffee.
3. morning bm is not really a big problem for me. i mean, im not sitting thinking "OH HOW CAN I CRAP WITHOUT IT!" besides, if the caffiene is the laxative, i will still be getting that.
4. my question is about difference between taking a pill and downing coffee.

If you can't decide between coffee and a pill, compromise. Swallow a whole coffee bean every morning like a pill.

Drip coffee averages 110mg of caffeine per cup. If you do not exceed the average daily dose of mg per day in pill form then there is no problem. Also remember that drinking coffee introduces the caffeine gradually, the pills bring it all on at one time.

thats exactly what i was looking for, thank you!

i, too, enjoy the flavor of coffee...but...im not going to lie and say i dont like the caffeine. if i didnt want that, id drink decaf.

i was just trying to think of how the pill couldnt be detrimental to ones health.
thank you!

I just plain enjoy drinking coffee now. Its warm, it wakes me up...gives me an excuse to go yack with some of my coworkers when we go for our afternoon cup.

I can get by without it just fine, but I'd rather keep drinking it. Unfortunately I was spoiled in college drinking that really good green mountain roasters stuff, so the battery acid we have at work doesn't really compare.

remember that the caffeine rush won't last all that long with a pill (unless it's time-release) - the caffiene will be burnt up in under an hour or so, after it starts taking effect.

The half life of caffeine is anywhere from several hours to just under a day (some say a lot longer), so it won't be "burnt up" within an hour.
