It's getting closer to the time we will be travelling to Texas for a family re-union, and I was wondering if any of you TA Texans (kinda has a good ring to it, no? ;)) nearby would be interested in getting together for a brew (doesn't have to be alcholic in nature) and/or lunch/dinner? :D

We will be arriving on the 4th, and so we might be able to meet on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Our reunion is on Sunday the 8th, and we head back after that.

We will be in or around (still have to firm up hotel reservations) a small town East of Dallas called Alba. It's on route 69 between Emory and Mineola.

Map

I would be willing to drive some to meet. :)

You can PM or email me! :D

Cool...I live about 30 minutes south of there in Tyler. Too bad i am going to be moving back to san marcos on the 30th. Have fun and if you go into to tyler, watch out for the drivers. You have to drive like you mean business here.

I live in the Dallas metropolitan area.
Alba, TX is about 103 miles east of my location in the metroplex.

Don't know if you want to travel that far, but would be great to meet you.

I'm in Nacogdoches, around 120 miles southeast of Alba. I don't have a car and it would probably be too far for you to drive, as I'd imagine you'll be somewhat busy. Hope you have a good time at the reunion nonetheless. :)

Ray,

I won't know until later in the week, but I may be in Plano that week. I will check and see if there is any place good to eat in Greenville. If I can work it I may bring the wife and son down with me for the fourth.

Homer...the next time you have a Manske roll, think of me. I was in Elliot until they asked me not to return. Is Shockley still teaching down there?

Hey Ray,

I am in Shreveport, which is 119 miles east of Alba. I will be flying home on Friday morning, but would be able to meet in Longview for dinner on Thursday evening; I could be there by 5:00 PM. It is between the two cities (towns). From Alba you go SE on US69 to US 80 (about 14 miles), then east on 80 to Longview (another 45 miles). They have a lot of nice places to eat on Loop 281 on the North side of town. Let me know and I'll ask someone for a good spot to meet (like Outback Steakhouse, 501 E Loop 281). I'll even treat for all your hard work for the TeAm!

I will not be in town on Sat., but Dallas is having a big computer show! You might find it interesting. Said to be the largest in the US. Check here. The site has maps, etc.

Ray,

Since you are going to be in my neighborhood (only 528.9 short miles from Alba, TX to Biloxi, MS) why don't you stop by for a visit. Hell man, I'll take you and yours out for supper and the treat will be on me. :D

:p

I have gone to the sidewalk sales in (downtown) Dallas for a long time - if you are in the area you may want to check it out. My wife just reminded me that we will probably be out of town on the fourth (mini-vacation for the kids).

Ray, that is about 150 miles east of me. Not necessarily out of the way, except I am flying to Maryland on 7/5. Unless we meet inside the DFW airport, it will be a "swing and miss" for your Texas visit.

Enjoy your stay, though. So far, it hasn't been too hot for Texas.

LOL@Smokeball! :p
;) I was looking for something a little closer to where I am going to be.... ;)

RC, Cakin, and JWM, those are definite possibilities. I will talk to the boss and family to see what they have planned, but I'm sure I can make 1 foray to meet. I might be able to bring the wife if she knows that there will be a wife/girlfriend there who isn't into PCs. ;)

JonB, it looks like we may miss each other this time :), although I was hoping we could connect. :)

Nohr, ya never know. It all depends on scheduling. :)

I'll keep y'all posted. :)

Sorry we can't gt together Cakin, but maybe some other time. :)

It looks like we will be arriving in Texas late on the 5th (Thursday) and will be staying at the Holiday Inn in Sulphur Springs. That's all I know so far.

I made it to Texas, we got in late Thursday nite. Boy, were there a LOT of radar patrols out on the 4th. :Q

We counted 21 from Columbus, Oh. to Jackson, Tn.

anyway, it looks like my time is not my own. The family has plans both Saturday and Sunday, then we have to book it back to Ohio so I can move our network to the new office next weekend.

I really would have liked to get together. :) Maybe next time! :D

Take care all! :D
