Hey sucko! Yield sign means stop when there is oncoming traffic!

It doesn't mean mash the accelerator and nearly take out the entire right hand side of my car.

Here's a picture...Basically has a ton of traffic coming off of the interstate on an exit ramp. Ramp goes up and dumps into an intersection. On the right hand side of the intersection, and back a bit is a side street that dumps into the intersection as well. The side street has a yield sign to the oncoming ramp traffic. Today two jackholes tried gunning it through the yield and nearly wiped me out. If I had been in the junker car I may just have let them and pocketed the cash.

I swear that sign is invisible.

I suspect that at least half the yahoos on the road don't know what the Yield sign means. They probably think to themselves...

"YIELD? Nevah! While there is a valiant bone in my body I shall not yield."

Uh, whenever I know there's a yield sign for others and my lane is freeflowing, I drive like it's normal. I'd like someone to hit me so I can collect. I do need a new car, time off from work, and so forth 🙂

How about that door that has the key marks? Wouldn't you like a new one ? 🙂

y in the picture does it look like the yield sign is on the left hand side of the side street?

Because it is. The side street is a single lane one way road.

well thats probably why...most signs are on the right hand side of the road...maybe they thought it was the people coming off the off-ramp that needed to yield...from the picture u drew it seems like the yield sign is for the ramp and not the sidestreet

edit😱f course i cant tell which direction the sign is angled though

This is why we all need fully automatic .50 machine guns on the top of our cars, complete with auto tracking motors and IR imaging.

With my uber paint skills I didn't go into too much detail. The side street is actually "behind" the exit ramp. There is a small median between where the two streets meet and the yeild sign is on the "side street" side of the median.

yeah i think its just poorly designed...the sign should be on the right side of the street, even if the yield is coming from the left

Well, on most 4 lane highways, when you come down a ramp, and have traffic to your left, the yield sign is on the left.

That's a strange yield sign.. I've never seen a yield sign for the side street merging with a freeway off-ramp. I've only seen yield signs for cars coming off the freeway merging to the side streets.

i thought that this was just a one lane road

Nobody knows how to use a yield sign. I absolutely hate it when some idiot gets in front of me who thinks yield is just another way to say stop.

Umm... from what I can tell of the situation, the yield sign is specifically for those coming off the ramp, not for those going straight on the service road (side street).

Every yield sign I've ever seen pertains to the cars that WERE NOT the ones continuing on the straight path beforehand... they don't have the right of way like the ones going straight ahead do.

Why on God's green earth do you think they should yield to you when you're going onto their road ? Because you're going faster or because there's more volume coming off the ramp ? Both answers are wrong. I'm pretty sure Iowa would be the same... cause it definitely is the case in NYawk.

I've always wanted the "Opponent Repulsificator" from Carmageddon. 🙂

vi... most people don't even slow down for STOP signs, what makes you think they're even going to so much as look at a puny yield sign?

God, I hate interstates like that. The same thing with the interstates in San Antonia. When you're exiting off of the interstate onto another road, you should have to yeild to the traffic on the road, not the other way around. I know the first time I visited San Antonio, that was the single most aggravating thing about my visit. Most people don't notice the yeild sign because in most cities across the US don't have your funky system.

worsts are those people who seem to forget left turns have the least priority (without the green arrow). can't stand people who tries to make left turns when i'm trying to make a right one.
