how do you ground your mobo on your crack racks? the only way I can get one to boot is by taking a piece of romex and go from the power supply to the ground on the mobo by hand. Just wondering the easies way to do this without worring about frying the board!!

Thx

I take it you're using one ps to power multiple mobos? If not, then I would say you have a bad wire on your ps connector. If you are, then you obviously have to wire the ground as well as the rest of the wires. I still don't really understand what's going on though. Perhaps you could tell us a little bit more about what you are doing/trying to do?

well I have bx6 mobo mounted on piece of plywood. and powersupply, hdd, and that's it. board will only boot when I take romex touching psu to ground screw on mobo. that's about all that I can say right now unless you all need more info let me know.

Just 1 psu powering 1 mobo and the psu works on the mobo that is in a case. So it, the mobo, is grounded to the psu

Ground? Is that something I was supposed to do? I just have the boards mounted, video, NIC and floppy, plug in to the power supply and fire them up.

Sounds like either a bad power cord or a bad power supply, all my boards are sitting on ESD foam and plywood!

That's really strange. As the others have said, the ground for the mobo is provided via the powersupply. You should be able to mount it on rubber without any problems 😉. Sounds like the ground wire from the powersupply is bad. Have you tried putting the ps back in the case and seeing if it still works there? I've never owned a bx6 (though I did have more than one bh6), so it may just be something really weird that Abit did with bx6, requiring that it be grounded to the case as well as the ps, but I don't see why that would be necessary. Ground is ground, and the ground wire from the ps should be more than sufficient unless you've accidentally severed a connecetion on the mobo, thereby forcing it to need a second source for its ground. It would still be weird regardless, and severing a ground connection alone would have to be hard to do.

Well thx all for the replies! It turned out to be the cord going to the psu. Only thing now is that I have to turn the power on a couple times before it will stay on, but for the 5 bucks that this mobo cost me, I can't complain!!😀
