I didn't explicitly see it brought up, but here's the real concern with any kind of registry.

EVERY confiscation and ban was predicated by a registry. They can't take them if they don't know where they are. Nip that shit in the bud and learn from history.

I only call people sheep when they worship some inbred royal whore.

We can't expect reason out of people who still follow a caste system.

Confiscation is a real threat
Politicians 'Alan Rock' were quoted as saying they believe the only people who should own firearms in Canada are the police and military.

I'm not anti controls by any means, just that the registry of long guns has been a dismal failure and energy and effort should be spent elsewhere.
I'm supportive of the existing handgun restrictions, I have a Restricted Possesion and Aquisition License
I'm supportive of licensing of firearms owners, just agahst at the Charter of Rights and Freedoms violations currently in the existing C-68 bill

Since the ultimate goal is firearm related incidents to go down, effort should be spent on those who transgress the laws and PUNISHED for it, as many social research studies show this is where you make ground. Not beurocratic paper shuffling exercises, ANY firearm is dangerous it really doesn't matter what it is or how many I have

Fun fact about the registry: In Toronto, if you forget to renew your possession and acquisition permit you can expect the police to show up at your door and confiscate your guns. In other words, the police are busy stealing guns from honest citizens.

From the CBC

Toronto police have seized more than 2,000 guns since they launched their Safe City Project in March 2009.

Meanwhile, another NDP stooge Peter Stoffer who has been against the registry for 15 years has switched his vote and will vote to keep the registry. He claims he is listening to his constituent and the left is applauding him for it. Keep in mind the left is also applauding the Liberal for whipping the vote. !!!!

What a bunch of dishonest lying sons of bitches.

There is hope, the PM has stated they will work until they eliminate the registry so it's just a mater of time.

I've been feeling nostalgic about Mayor Miller here in Toronto lately (what with our awful crop of candidates) but he's been on a bit of a pro-registry rampage lately and it's reminded me how much I want him gone.

Supposedly some have changed their Vote due to promises of changing some of the regulations surrounding the Registry. Such as less penalty(From Criminal to Fine) for being late in Registration/Re-Registration.

Harper won't succeed.

And the bolded is the difference between you Canadian subjects, and us US citizens.

Most of us do not take the government's word blindly. In fact, the whole 2nd amendment is so that we can fight a central government that is out of control, like we had to do with the Redcoats.

EXACTLY> Dennil proves he is blind in matters that affect him. Anyone that takes the word of the government is bound to be subjegated by that government.

Of course the government is going to tell you that their system works and is effecient and saves lives". There is a universal constant about governments. They never want to give up power and will stoop to some pretty low levels to keep their power.

But their history is to submit to tyranny, why would you think that has changed in 234 years?

I don't see where the OP has any real complaint. I also do not see where there is any legitimate claim that the NRA is lobbying the Canadian gov.

Documents and correspondence obtained by the CBC show the NRA has provided logistical and tactical support to organizations such as the Canadian Institute for Legislative Action (CILA), established in 1998 to lobby Ottawa to shut down the registry.

The NRA provides the Canadian gun lobby group with "tremendous amounts of logistical support," and while the NRA's constitution prevents them from providing money, "they freely give us anything else," Tony Bernardo, an Ontario gun advocate and CILA's executive director, said in Canadian Firearms Digest in July 2001.

So, the NRA is helping Canadian lobbying groups that ask for help and the NRA is prohibited from providing them money. This is an outrage, a big problem?

Sorry, I don't see it. Looks more to me like a manufactured situation whereby someone (on the Left) thinks invoking the name of the NRA will get them traction in the Canadian political debate.
