if the anandtech notfred is the same as the yabb notfred, I was going to start a thread about free yabb forums - but I guess I should have done that after pm'ing him...

I ran a few YaBB boards. No problems here.

I just changed the values in settings.pl, uploaded to my server, but I can't get CHMOD to work. So forum is no go.

but once it does work, I still have another dilemma, I need to get ahold of a sendmail script for my cgi-bin directory

the permissions on the cgi files seem to check out okay, but I still get an error

nevermind I'll just search through YaBB's forums for somebody else with the same problem... like I should have anyway....

Unfortunately, a necessary one. My host supports perl, frontpage extensions, and that's about it.

It's probably permissions. Make sure the directory that YaBB keeps member profiles in is writeable by the server.

I didn't want a PHP board, I wanted a perl board. I've got Ikonboard running w/ MySQL right now. So far I'm happy w/ it, but configuring/modifying it to how I really want it will take a while.
