Some schools are downright FREAKY. My buddy Matt goes to an underground school that also teaches ninjitsu. :Q Matt's the one that fvcking borked my rib over a few months ago.

The one I looked at was just plain weird...

I think they concentrate even less on sparring then the school I attend....

if only there was a school in this city which FOCUSED on sparring...

Define sparring. Point sparring and no-contact sparring are still sparring. You need to find a school that's focused on attaining 1st dan and above and that has full-contact sparring.

Italian? me no understand.

So I don't have any need for martial arts. :p

There is a school right by my house. If I ever get into shape, I was thinking about talking to them about kick boxing.

Many schools teach Aerobic kick boxing. That will get you into shape FAST.

Sparring....

Hey, I'd be happy if we did a lot of point and no-constact sparring (even if I end up breaking the latter quite often)

We just barely do any.....

We concentrate more on patterns (poomse), one, two, three step sparrings (which as you probably know, is NOT real sparring), blocking and punching and kicking techique.

I guess I'm just fustrated

Not what I'm looking for at the moment, but I'll keep it in mind. :)

Karate and Aikido is fun!!

Karate = kicking stuff
Aikido = throwing stuff

Karate + Aikido = Owning stuff.

I also do judo and some boxing, that way I get lotsa being uber practice. But mainly just the karate and aikido.

Why can't you own your own sword now? I've got three katanas, two pairs of chucks, and a pair of escrimas or bluntawok (sp?) within 8 feet from me. Not to mention my collection of knives. :D

Umm....I can't afford it right now?

Besides...my apartment is currently set up to try to impress any girl I bring over

I dunno how she would feel about seeing weapons everywhere...

It's really frustrating to see people paying typical membership fees (80-120/month) for a school that teaches next-to-nothing, which is what sounds like is happening to you :( Hell I was paying $60/month to learn TKD AND hapkido. TKD included weapons training, as well.

It depends on the girl. But having one or two nice looking weapons on display shouldn't ruin anything.

Dude, if you find a woman, find one that understands that weapons do not kill people -PEOPLE kill people. I HATE women that see guns and knives and go "OMG IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD" when they drive around a 4,000lb+ car every day. :roll: Grr... I get so FRUSTRATED!!!!

...gooooosefrahbah...

There's nothing wrong with owning weapons. Hell you can get some cases or wooden mounts for your "weapons" and hang them on your wall for decoration until you need them.
