Hey Mods! Care to provide a list of Banned ISP's?

NovaTerra

Banned
Yeah I tried to search, but came up with articles from last May...

But there should be a list compiled somewhere. Reason: I plan to get a new ISP shortly, and do not wish to sign a contract etc, and then find I cannot post!

I am currently looking at:

Earthlink
Telocity
BellSouth

All DSL services..

And AT&t Broadband.

thats when you know that AT is big, when you pick isp's around the fact if they work with AT.
might be better off in forum issues, at least to get a response.

Funny...the mod moves the thread, but does not answer the question. sigh.

yeah I know aol stuff is banned, but some of the free ones are also banned...and there are a lot of "fringe" isp's that are banned. There once was a list sometime last year, but I cannot find it now, and there have to be others added since then.

here is what I know is banned,

Hotmail
Yahoo
Onebox
a few other Free E-mail services

ISP's
AOL

you will be fine with any of the ones you are looking at 🙂

AOL should be banned from AOL.

heh

J.S., your handle has been banned. Please choose somthing of better taste.
You will recieve an email from AnandTech.

Why are free email providers like hotmail banned? I went through the trouble of creating an account in hotmail just for AT, and when I tried to update, it wouldnt...

it's because aol and free email users are USUALLY real (edit: really) free with expletives and end up breaking some sort of rule time and again, because there's really no way to hold them (free email users) accountable for their posts.
having said that, i find it really interesting that the only person to cheat me out of my money has a ucla.edu address. snakes come from all areas

I have to use AOL at work, so for 9 hours a day (the majority of the time that I spend on the internet) I can not post/reply/PM. Really sucks, but at least I know why now. I just now signed up for these forums yesterday (while at work oddly enough), looks like I'll have to find somewhere else to go.

Hey mods,

Why aren't you providing a list of banned ISPs? It would make it a lot easier for all of us.

narzy,

I use Juno, but I haven't changed e-mails in 6 months so it could have been banned since then.

I only joined a month or so ago and I am using juno. Are you sure it has been banned???

WTT0001

P.S. Not that I really want it banned

sorry I really dont know them all if juno is not banned Ill remove it from the list as well, from what I understand mods try their hardest NOT to ban entire ISP's but just IP blocks, with AOL it was the shear numbers of problems and the companys refusal to help fix the problem that led to its banning.

As far as I know there's only 1 banned ISP, that being AOL.

There's probably close to 100 banned email providers though, most (if not all) of which are free (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc).
