Is this enough info? Basically trying to find out the length of the long side.

Interesting, thank you. My parents have an entertainment cabinet which is 36" wide. Right now they have a 32" TV and I wanted to see how big a TV would fit in there. 16x2.72134 comes to 43.5" - but there's no accounting for bezel size. I figured maybe a 37" would fit at most but it seems like that size isn't being made any more. Now it seems like maybe a 40" would fit.

Dimensions of TV's always include bezel size that are listed on sites like amazon, crutchfield, etc. You're overanalyzing this.

You sure about that? I always thought the listed size was the screen size alone.

The '42" Class Blah Blah' is screen size, but in every product page I've seen they give full dimensions including bezel and stand.

I'm not talking about the product name. I'm talking about in the specifications listed for the TV. They'll list the width, height and length of the TV.

Well in any case it seems like a 37" is the biggest that will fit, bezel included. Gonna have to measure a second time if I feel like pulling the trigger.

In the days of giant LCDs, entertainment cabinets don't really make sense anymore. People either hang them on the wall or get some kind of television stand.

I agree! I'm hoping someday they'll figure out a better setup. But you know, baby steps. Meanwhile I'll continue enjoying my 42" LCD unless something in my BF HDTVs thread catches my eye :)

We had an old-style entertainment center that was made to hold a 27" CRT television.
I cut it down to make a nice stand for the 50" plasma.
Not exactly ideal...as I lost some doors and shelves, but it still holds my stereo gear, blu-ray player, and cable box...plus a couple of cabinets (with doors) to hold misc. gear.

I was actually surprised at how well it worked.
