Hey man why not another Quake, heatsink removal video?

That's pretty damn cool...no pun intended! I can see broad acceptance of that chip in place of the transmeta bombs that never lived up to their promises. Maybe even consoles if they can get some decent performance out of it...

That's sick. But can they bring their processor up to current speeds? If overclocking were possible...

I thought I replied to this a few hours ago but evidently not:

It was pretty amusing a few weeks back, when it was introduced.

Let me quote from my other post:

<< Wow, but its obvious that its "Cool Processing" is not very surprising since Cyri...oops I mean VIA. VIA has been the first to output .13 Micron Process processors (Most of their higher end C3's around 700 or 800Mhz.). This "Test" or "Challenge" would have been better suited if VIA's C3 was pitted against a Pentium 3 instead of a Celeron (II). Maybe if Intel did not include a Thermal Diode on chip, the Celeron or Pentium 3 would have lasted a bit longer...before ultimately frying. Like the music though. >>

And if they used the same heatsink/fan for both processors.

And as with all Tech-y videos I enjoy the background music.

What I would like to see in a new video:

Playing Quake 3 (to make temps rise) then shutting down the system. Power down, remove the heatsink. Boot up. We never could see what happens to the core when the heatsink was removed in the THG videos, as it was masked by the heatsink itself.

What do you think happens if we use an AMD T-Bird processor?

a) Explodes and flings tiny bits of scalding silicon everywhere

b) Just melts

c) Sizzles

d) Catches Fire

e) Nothing, Cold Boot

Having fried a T-Bird 1400 when testing it and one of the plastic socket lugs broke (HS did a backflip), I know that the answer is:

F) Discolors and lets out an awful burning smell.

The CPU died within seconds and the heat discolored the area around the CPU die. The Mobo (Iwill KK266) survived just fine, but it was a tragic death for a two day old CPU.
