I found a pretty tasty auto-shutdown daemon that even I was able to setup and get working. Available both in binary and RPM. I installed it on Mandrake with the Redhat 6.0-6.2 version.
You can grab it here.
The only problem I ran in to was figuring out whether or not I had a smart cable or a stupid cable (bought at eB*y since my UPS didn't come with one), when I was setting up the .conf file. Turns out I have a smart cable and a stupid UPS (300).🙂 But, the cable is dumbward compatible.😉
Anyway, thought I'd share this in case anyone was looking for something that doesn't pig out on CPU time like the software from APC.
