I?ve always wondered why a man's bike has a straight cross bar while a woman?s bike has a slanted crossbar. Many men have slammed their family jewels on this crossbar. I?ve always thought they screwed up the design between the sexes. Men should have the design of a woman's bike and women should have the design of a man's bike since women do not have dingle balls.

But here is why. In the late 1800's and early 1900's a majority of women wore dresses. The slanted cross bar was used to allow women to swing their legs through in order to mount a bike. If they had continued to use a straight crossbar on all bikes women would have to swing there leg over the crossbar, revealing themselves in the process.

During the heat of the space race in the 1960's, NASA decided it needed a ball point pen to write in the zero gravity confines of its space capsules.

After considerable research and development, the Astronaut Pen was developed at a cost of $1 million. The pen worked and also enjoyed some modest success as a novelty item back here on earth.

The Soviet Union, faced with the same problem, used a pencil

<< Early air conditioners used Ammonia instead of Freon. >>

And if I remember correctly, the first air conditioner was invented by a Dr. as a treatment for malaria.

Sela Ward is from Meridian, MS; which is less than an hr from where I grew up. I think her current tv show is once and again although I've never watched it.

I like this thread :) Hmm... When making Jurassic Park, they used numerous animal sounds for the roar of the T-rex which included a rooster and a dog!

when the typewriter was first invented, it had a real problem. people were typing to fast on it and the mechanism wasn't able to keep up, hence the qwerty keyboard was designed. it was designed to intentionally slow people down. and i'm too damned lazy to learn the dvorak keyboard, even tho i could probably learn it in a week and i would probably see a 15 to 20 percent increase in my typing speed.

the better to nef with my darling. :)
