I have had my 700m for about 5 days now and I am very happy with it. I upgraded the hard drive to a 7200rpm Hitachi and reloaded windows 2000 clean. (as mentioned before, the mouse buttons do feel cheap)

I have been messing around with a few games and I was VERY surprised to see that I could actually play:

Warcraft III and DungeonSiege on the laptop at lower settings quite well. I haven't done it yet but I imagine that counterstrike will play fine. My SFF system has a 9800 pro in it and I thought the laptop would be completely worthless with the onboard intel chip but I was wrong.

Another thing, even when playing games on the widescreen LCD, I can't tell that it is getting stretched! (ie 640x480 res) Also, this LCD still looks real good when not at it's native resolution.

Another thing I don't understand. I have 512mb of ram and the intel video should be taking 64 because it is shared right? Well why does dxdiag say I have 494mb of system ram and the video card has 64mb. Am I missing something here?

What 3D games have you been playing?

(BTW - Thank you dell for crazy 750 off coupons) ;)

The shared video works like speed step. It takes more when it needs it.

How much improvement is the 7200 over 5400?
I'm wondering if its worth it.

One guy told me upgrading the harddrive to 7200 would be even better than uppgrading
with more memory and cpu combined.

Thanks for the explaination on the video. The performance on the 7200 rpm drive is great. The 4200 rpm original was really slowing the system down It was a piece of cake to install. Now my apps open alot quicker and the system boots faster. Go for it.

this computer has intels "extreme graphics 2" this is like a updated extreme graphics that they haven't updated in like 4 years or something so it was due. The primary reason for the update was so it would run the microsoft windows 64 that is going to be a 3d interface. So there graphics cards meet those requirements.
