Not too expensive. I have an older toshiba that works great, but it only has component and I am going to get an HDTV soon as my 36 inch magnavox is starting to crap out.

I picked up a Samsung DVD-HD850 with HD upconversion through HDMI a few months ago. Unfortunately I still haven't used the upconversion because I still haven't decided what to get to replace my Infocus X1. I think you can find the HD850 in the lower $100 range.

WOW yeah that is too much... good lord, did not know they cost that much...is there really a visible audible difference than the lower cost ones?

Sony has a great upcoverting player for under $150 that has HDMI. Highly recommended on AVSForum. Panasonics get great reviews as well, but they are a little over $200.

Oppo 971 or Panasonic S77 are nice ones for $200.

Both have macroblocking issues when upscaling.
