Ok here is what is going on. I am running an IWiLL KK266 with a Thunderbird 1200mhz and 256 mb crucial ram. Video Card GeForce2 PRO, western digital ata100 40 gigger and lite on cdrom drive.

Ok the problem is...
When I start the comp the IDE devices take about 45sec to load. Sometimes the harddrive will show up and other times it won't. Then when the hard drive does show up I can't get the floppy drive to boot up and when i get that to work the cdrom drive won't work.

I have changed IDE cables no dice... my next guess is the power supply what do you guys think?

I doubt it is the PS.

It sounds like RMA time due a bad controller. Which bios are you using? Try going back to the original.

It could be an issue of the PS not providing enough power to all of the components at once.

Do the HDD's work and show up fine on other motherboards?
If so, then I would double-check the BIOS to ensure that you have the proper settings. Assuming the settings are fine in the BIOS then see about updating the BIOS if you can, and then if none of the above work I would test with a more powerful PS.

Another thing you could try is to hook the CDROM and HDD up to an IDE controller card and see if they are detected. If their detected then you could narrow it down to a promblem with the onboard IDE controller.

First check make sure the IDE and the CD-Rom are clearly recognized in the BIOS. Do not use the Auto Setting. Identify them using the BIOS HDD Recognition menu. Try again and if the same problem exists, try connecting both IDE and CD-Rom on the same IDE channel, either 1 or 2 is OK. Hopefully the problem is resolve. If not then make sure your PSU is at least 300W and certified by AMD. Check their homepage for the list. If the problem is still there it could be a Mobo problem. Check IWill homepage for their Instant RMA offering on KK-266 mobo. You could have got the faulty 1.2 Rev KK-266.

Jiggz, the faulty 1.2Rev KK266 was only for a set of boards on which the multiplier control in the BIOS didnt work and it was stuck at an 8X multiplier irregardless of what processor was in use. He hasnt reported any problems with the multiplier control on his board.

It's obviously not the 1.2 Rev board problem :)

I would RMA the mobo..
