Ok, I have a few problems with my computer. The main problem is when I have a couple progs running and searching the net(cable) my computer freezes for up to 3 seconds, sometimes a shorter time. This happens quite a bit.

**another Problem. I have a philips cdrw thats burns music cd's just fine, but when i burn bin and cue files every time one is finished I take the cd out and put another in. After the cdrw reads the new cd it freezes the computer and I must turn it off with the switch. This happens with cdrwin, fireburner etc so I'm pretty sure its not the prog.

I have a gateway p3 450 with 128 pc100 2 hdd 27.3 & 45.
I'm running win98se
thanks a lot
Let me know if anyone can help me out with these problems.
Thanks so much.

Being no-one as answered I shall give this tough one a shot ,this may or may not help but worth a try, try increasing the storage space go into Internet options (in IE)& increase your Temporary Internet files folder, also more ram might help.As for your other problem all I can think of is make sure you have latest drivers,& maybe make sure you have a decent PSU in there.

When was the last time you did any drive maintenance??
You need to dump temporary internet files and defrag your drive once in a while.
You might also try setting a minimum swap file size, instead of letting windows manage it however it wants. Try setting the minimum swap file size to 256 and then run msconfig\system.ini\386Enh. Edit that and put the line ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1
That will help you get windows to manage the swapfile and memory better. :)

Sounds like IRQ conflicts.

All that does is force Windows to use a large VCACHE and a small swap file. However, you may run into problems when more free memory is required. Windows has had a history of not wanting to free up the VCACHE.
