Hey Guys, I just got Counter Strike!!!! some questions insde..

My internet works just fine, but when I go to to online play or try to download updates, it says my internet connection is invalid? Why is the picture on my Dell 1800 FP so bad? I tried changing resolution for it on the game but they dont have 1280X1024.... Which one should I use if Im running this resolution? Also, any other helpful hints would be cool. Cant wait to start playing. Thanks guys in advance

why does it look so bad?

you are not running at the native resolution, forget about playing the game on Dell 1800FP, you are gonna have ghosting

dont do auto update, download the patches at www.counter-strike.net and at www.sierra.com

CS is still a fun game to play reguardless of all the freaking cheats ect out there, just find a good servers
were there monitored.

As for your res I play on my Inspiron 8200 with 800x600, CS is just one of those games that If I play on a higher res my eyes get to damn tired looking at the screen, but thats just me.

No you can start playing it but expect a horrible experience full of losers with slowed and crippled gameplay. It is now a shell of what it once was.
 
You have to remeber that all the hardware is probably fairly up to date, the coding of CS isn't. Set the resolution to 1024 x 768. Run it in OpenGL mode and make sure you download the updates yourself.

You think that is old??? At our school the newest game we play is starcraft.....we're starting to move onto wc3 though...thank god

dude starcraft rules, its such a great game, id say more fun than warcraft, even if the graphics are old

it is great. i suggest playing that. its a more advanced version of CS. cs has to many cheaters too.
 
theres a lot of cheaters on cs so it sucks unless you're just playing against people you know
 
Yeah you're like 4 years too late for CS. Now it's full of cheaters and generally people will hate you if you're new to the game because you make them look bad when you're on their team..... Oh yeah and it's full of 11-12 year old who try to insualt peoiple as much as is physically possible.
 
I still play it. The newest version is unbalanced though because the Terrorist side has the Galil (cheap spraying gun) and the AK47 (headshot king and still not too expensive). Plus all the hackers ruin the internet games. Still fun for playing against friends.
 
i play DOD cause its more real.

edit* why?, it takes 1-2 bullets for a kill, unlike cs(unless its a HS)
