Hey guys! A friend and I each got our own Xbox tonight at Best Buy. We go to his house to play the games and setup his rig. We play until about 11pm. I get home here now, setup mine, only this time, I am greeted with a beautiful green and black screen that says,

"Your Xbox requires service. Please call customer support." (In about 3 different languages)

What a bunch of crap! Has anyone else heard this before?

I'm going to Best Buy at noon tomorrow when they open to get a new one. Also, my Amped game case is broke as well. 2 of the 3 push down buttons that you press on to get the disc out are broken off! I carried this unit to the car with utmost care and support. This sux0rz!!! :|

I dunno why, but it's only the Grand Forks and Fargo areas that open at noon. The employees here must be lazier than the ones in your area. ;)

Thanks Darien for the warm comments. :)

You probably got a defective X-Box. Lots of those going around. That's why I'll stick with my Gamecube. :) I hope all goes well and that you have fun with your Box.

Bwahaha. Nice bashes on the Xbox. :D GSOD, I have to remember that one. :)

I exchanged it, no problems. I also exchanged my copy of Amped. The wierdest thing though, is when I put in a disc for the first time, it said the Xbox could not read the disc. At this moment, my jaw dropped to the floor. Then my friend was like, OMG, man, you are cursed! So I took out the disc, cleaned it, despite it was brand new with only a couple specs of dust, put it back in, and I was in business!

I did notice that my new Xbox box was in much better condition. My previous one looked like a pencil was taken after it on the front. There were marks on the previous Xbox. Also, this one came with more manuals and cards/inserts for warranty. My other did not. I'm wondering what the hell I bought before!?!?!

I was suprised at the DVD playback. I cannot tell the difference between it and a set-top Sony DVD Player. The quality is amazing. The remote is very nice, too. I'm being pretty picky when I say this, but I think MS should have made a dedicated spot for the remote sensor, like a rubber plug you can pull out. This way, you don't have to keep swapping the sensor and a controller.

Amped is very very cool and I can't wait for Transworld Snowboarding. I just need a racing game now, like Project Gotham. :D Halo is da bomb.

Anyone know when MS' gaming servers are coming up?

One happy Xbox gamer,

Wow, that sounds like a real scam... glad it worked out.

Funny how Nintendo has about the same defective rate as MS, but yet whenever an XBox or anything doens't work right people blame MS for having inferior products. While MS is not perfect or have perfect products, they are pretty good quality.

Perhaps some people missed the small article that was printed a couple months ago about thousands of PS2's being recalled because of a problem. It was a VERY small article. 100's people have a problem with their XBox, and it's HUGE news.

The PS2 recall was in Japan because a lot of DVD drives had no regional lockout and the
Hollywood folks were huffing and puffing over the matter. I think about 5 Japanese
people returned their PS2s to have this "defect" repaired.

Even ignoring the Japanese recall of the PS2, there is still the fact that it had the largest number of malfunctioning units at launch. Remeber the number of news stories about the PS2's drive scratching disks as they loaded? Or all of the malfunctions that occurred with Ridge Racer V? There were (and are) alot more defective PS2s than Xboxes and there is an equal number of defective Game Cubes, but they are not talked about.

9am? Damn, you are lucky. Just go to Best Buy's website and visit the Weekly Ad. Then for the zip code, type in 58103, which is Fargo. It says 11am-6pm on Sundays, 12pm for Fargo and Grand Forks.

Why is this? I would think they would have a specific time for all Best Buys!?!?

I had to return my PS2 for replacement after about 3 months of use, out of the blue it just decided to stop reading discs.

Its understandable that with the thousands of units Song/Microsoft build every week that one or two faulty units get through testing and end up being sold to the public.

My Gamecube is starting to have very, very slight cracks in the corners. You can only see them if you have the right lighting and angle.
I heard Apple had a similar problem with their cube designed computer. Must just be how the plastic acts when it's in a cube shape...

could be worse... could have been a brick inside it. always open the box in the store in front of the sales person or whatnot... =)
