Hey Goldenbear and Others, What Do You Think About This Weekend's WWF PPV?

First of all, wrestling is fake and not real. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's discuss.

For me, there are 2 stories I'm interested in, the WWF Title match and the KotR.

I'm a big Jericho fan, but I'm a little unsure that they'll let him beat Austin (maybe he'll beat Benoit though).

The only things that give me a glimmer of hope is the new intro and taking the tag straps away. The new intro seems to suggest they actually care about Jericho's character. I'll keep my fingers part.

As for the KotR, I'd love to see Angle repeat. The way I see it, if he wins KotR, he'll lose against Shane O'Mac. Otherwise, it'll be a lot of fun to see Edge vs. Christian.

I wonder how long until Tajiri is in the title hunt? :)

I personally don't think Angle should even be in the KOTR, and moreso this far. I mean why the hell is he in it? The KOTR is meant to push young new stars into the main event status, something that happened last year with him. Why does he need to be in it again?

I mean gee, ever wonder WHY he would be the only person to do it twice? Because the person that did it the previous year is always too busy winning the heavyweight belt to give a damn about KOTR.

:D

I'm looking forward to seeing what WCW does to the show.

I think that the Austin-Benoit-Jericho angle is awesome. I wonder what the outcome is going to be on sunday. It's weird that they took the tag titles away from them right before the PPV. Does it mean that either Jerich or Benoit is going to get the title? i think it's just a way for them to keep the viewers wondering. I'd love to see Jericho win the title.
The interesting part of the show is going to be the WCW angle. I have a feeling Booker T will interfere somehow. I'm just curious to see when he'll interfere.
As much as I wanna see Rhyno win the KOTR tournament, I think it's slightly early for him, and he doesn't deserve it just yet. I think they should have had another big name in that mix besides angle, but i do like the angle with all 4 friends. I guess it's a way for them to keep it easy on Angle just in case he ends up in 3 matches in 1 night.

should be interesting though

I have a guilty sin to confess...In WCW, DD Me was always my favorite wrestler. I don't know why, but it means that I'm actually looking forward to a match with Bikertaker: Prince of the Trailer Park in it.

<< The KOTR is meant to push young new stars into the main event status >>

Like who?

Bret Hart? He was main eventing before he won

Mabel? LOL!

Ken Shamrock? It really didn't elevate him at all.

HHH? It took him a long time after his win to be "the game."

The only one it's really elevated is Angle. I say let him win it again.

you forgot about stone cold steve austin winning the king of ring, although by that time he was already considered a veteran :)

shamrock was able to attain minor success although he never really got past the mid-card because he has no mic skills...to me ken shamrock = kurt angle w/o his ability to talk

i think the only total bombs as KOR were Mabel and "The One" Billy Gunn (lol)

I think Austin is going to lose the belt on sunday, it would be a nice touch to make him drop a belt to go along with this "he loses vince's friendship angle" and it would make Austin's character even more unpredictable

Undertaker vs. DDP, should be interesting, but there wasn't enough buildup for the match

as for KOR, I think Edge will come out on top. He used to get pops as a babyface and he has the look to be a potential breakout (his mic skills had improved alot since the days of the Brood). Rhyno and Kurt Angle don't really need to win right now, and Christian isn't quite up there yet.

KOTR looks nice, looks like it might be the start of the WCW Invasion angle, next months PPV is named "Invasion".
The KOTR looks weird at this time, I really don't know who will win now. Might be Rhyno, Angle or they might use it 2 break up Edge & Christian. The main event looks great, I really don't know who will win that, even though I want Benoit 2 win. Looks like a great PPV anyways.

Yeah hehe. Well Gunn was set for a huge push, but then he had to go and break his arm or whatever and it destroyed him.

i think im going to order it just to see DDP and Taker...but no way will vince let DDP even diamond Cutt him let alone win.

although i missed the whole DDP thing, i just read about it, they are going to fight right??

hope he brings kimberley, but i doubt it since she isnt under wcw-old nor wwf.

they would have brought Booker T, but isnt his contract still with Time warner along with goldberg, nash, etc etc and they have to buy the contracts out...maybe page wasnt one, thats why the big names have shown up.

to this day, ive seen hugh morris come out, and i cant remember who else...someone fill me in, i hate missing raw for like 2 months now...

hey bigbootydaddy (that sounded wrong) :)

in the last month of so since the last PPV we've seen Lance Storm (on a Raw in Canada no less) and Ms. Hancock (stacy kiebler) as well as the other people you've mentioned.

as for the whole ddp, it was a stalker angle where someone was stalking the undertaker's wife and it turned out to be ddp, who went on some rant stating that getting at the undertaker would "make him famous" blah blah blah...good reason enough for me i guess? hehe

i hope tajiri gets to do something on the ppv, he is definitely one of my favorite wrestlers right now...he has better mic skills than a lot of the other wwf guys and he can't even speak english! did you see his interaction with stone cold this past monday? classic :)

seeing as how no one really knew if DDP was under WWF contract until he showed up on RAW basically tells you that you should take all those rumors with a grain of salt.

Damn, I was all ready to make a long post on this, but everyone here has summed it up nicely..

<< I'm a big Jericho fan, but I'm a little unsure that they'll let him beat Austin (maybe he'll beat Benoit though). >>

That would make sense in many ways. Whenever the WWF hypes a situation that could possibly happen, like Vince and Austin's relationship being over come Sunday, or that Jericho/Benoit could pin each other, it usually comes true.

For example the "DQ changes title" situation at Fully Loaded (which was partly came through), and others that I just can't think of right now.

I see Jericho winning over Benoit, then have Austin win the title back the next night, and start a Benoit/Jericho feud all over again. While it's far from the best situation that could happen, the other alternatives make even less sense, for example:

If either of them pins Austin, like Jericho, what happens to the other? It's clear that if Jericho wins over Austin, Jericho/Austin will be set for the next PPV Ivasion, and same thing if you replaced Jericho with Benoit in that statement.

Or, if Austin wins, who will he feud with at the next PPV? His feud with Benoit/Jericho will pretty much over, and if he wins I don't want really want to see it anymore--and there are no top faces anymore aside from Undertaker, and possibly Kane, which doesn't seem ALL that likely to happen, although there's a slight chance it could.

Plus, perhaps the WWF is building to a whole history repeats itself type of thing..if you look in the past 3 years at Austin's title wins:

Austin won his first title at Wrestlemania XIV
Austin won his second title the day after KOTR '98

Austin won his third title at Wrestlemania XV
Austin won his fourth title the day after KOTR '99

Austin won his fifth title at Wrestlemania XVII...

I don't know.

i don't want to see another benoit/jericho feud

benoit was just recently turned face, so i don't think a heel turn would be a good idea.
jericho still hasn't reached his potential as a face yet so i think he should stay too.

as for a new challenger for austin? i'm wondering if rhyno is going to win the KOR now since i remember about a week ago where rhyno stated something like he is going to be the #1 contender after KOR since he beat jericho three times in a row?

as for possible feuds with austin...i think jericho might be a good bet, he did get all the new entrance and everything...or maybe this is a sign of an oncoming heel turn? who knows...bret hart would be a nice change of pace right about now...but there is like a 0% chance of that happening :)

I'm thinking the Chrises might do a double submission thing on Austin and they'll feud over the title. I'm going for Edge or Rhyno to win KOTR. Gore! Gore! Gore! And does anyone else want to see Tazz come back and beat the crap outta Austin for punking out Michael Cole? :D

Eh, I really don't want to see the Breakdown '98 ending where UT/Kane double chokeslammed Austin to win the title..

Now that I think of it further, I hear Benoit's supposed to be out with a pinched nerve in his arm or neck, and will miss some time..so they could play an injury angle and have Jericho the title. That would be awesome, since it'd show that Jericho could win by himself, with no help needed..

And also another useless fact, if Jericho wins the belt he'll be the first person ever to win FIVE different titles, with the IC, Euro, Tag, HC title recently, and the WORLD title.
