Oh and get a pressure cooker to 1/4 your cooking times and 1/4 associated cooking bills.

Add bacon, add variety of fish/shrimp/cheap beef cuts, add some veggies = 50 bucks.

Eat well for under 100 bucks a month. When I was dirt fucking poor rice and chicken necks were my meals. Add generic canned mushroom soup and you've got a tasty meal.

That's some good advice if you want to "mix it up" as it were but really all you need is beans and rice and water.

Eating the same thing every day when there are plenty of other choices for not much more money is insanity and unhealthy to boot.

Yeah. But I added the chicken necks for a little more flavor and fat. Sear 'em, boil 'em, remove necks, add rice and beans.

You can maintain an entire country on beans and rice. Eating the same thing every day is fine.

This is where "I choose to spend more money than I can afford" vs. "I choose to make the most of my money".

If you want to live "the good life", then make proper decisions. Especially when it comes to how much you spend for food.

Rice & beans are nasty as hell, I might not make much money but I'm going to use as much of it as I can to enjoy the food I eat. You only live once and I'd be a pissed off dude if all I had to ever eat was beans & rice.

LOL My wife says same thing. I can eat same thing every day. Sometimes when I make 15 gallons of spaghetti I'll eat it for a week no problem, don't even get tired of it. I can eat fish every meal, just fish no rabbit food or other fixings.

the point is for the money you spend on those $1 value items you can create nutritious tasty meals for the same cost given time to cook and planning.

Blaming poor eating habits on being poor = bullshit

You can make egg mcmuffin sandwiches for way less than McD.

2x6 pack english muffins - $5.00
sausages = 5 bucks
dozen eggs = 1.50
Cheese = $3

$15 for 12 sausage egg mcmuffins with cheese and you have leftover supplies.

Why are they measuring calories? That's a very stupid study. How about they measure nutrition instead?

And you don't need to pay for fresh, frozen is just about as good.

frozen is better, actually. it's more fresh (frozen about an hour after being picked) and doesn't have added chemicals sprayed on them to keep them "fresh" until they get to the produce isle.

and you're right. measure nutrition rather than calories. not all calories are created equal.

1 calorie of sugar != 1 calorie of protein, etc.

I choose to eat chicken breast in various ways. I get a bunch from the butcher (not cheap, but pretty good price) and cook up a bunch and use it in many ways. On its own, with brown rice, in a salad, etc. So many options.

And that is why you will never be wealthy to do anything you want. It is this very attitude that is holding you back. Not the evil white man, but your entitlement mentality of "imma gonna get mine rite now dog'!"

To put your attitude in perspective. For the weekend we're going to roast a turkey breast, rice as a side, broccoli, the evil potato and some gravy from the turkey. And the root vegtables from the turkey. That will feed me and my wife for a good 3 days.

lol yeah, i know what you mean. my gf was always bugging me about making other things for dinner than just meat and vegetables. she's like "you need a starch and a carb! blah blah blah". i ate like seasoned chicken breast and vegetables every day for like two months... never got sick of it. veggies = green beans, broccoli, or brussels sprouts. for desert, i had like a spoonful of cool whip and that was it.

cheap as hell and healthy.

I eat very healthily on ~ $3/day. You can give anyone a 2500 calorie diet on $100 a month, you just have to learn to cook. Also, I have meat for 2 meals, generally (some meals are excellent and meatless).

Here's a hint, potatoes are cheap.

Here's a hint. Potatoes are crap filler.

I just made a gigantic pot of spicy-as-hell turkey chili for about $7. I have enough leftovers for several days.

Eating cheaply is possible, but might not be easy for some people who have different/exotic tastes.

So is white rice somewhat.. get brown...Lundberg short grain organic brown is what I like. Costs more but tastes a lot better IMO and has a little texture.
