The next generation of the cycle of life?

Human eats deer
bacteria eats post digested deer after defecation
other small organism eats bacteria
slightly larger small organism eats other small organism ...
all the way back to the top.

The genes are in the DNA. The DNA is in the cells.
Technically, as food, the genes, which are in the cells, which is gotting eaten, is being passed down 🙂

Wow! I've never seen one like that. I've never even heard of one like that.

Wow...me neither. I hope they're going to use the hide for something.

Quite frankly, when you see something like this, you shouldn't be shooting it. They should have waited a little longer and shot a regular deer.

I hope they use everything from this animal so it didn't die in vain.

Why? From an evolution standpoint, this deer is inferior. It stands out, doesn't blend in, and would more likely be targeted by predators. There is nothing about its black color that helps him pass those genes on.

Now, if it had some type of cloaking device... Then THAT would be worth passing on!

apparently they are more rare then albinos

It's an 8-point buck, he's had time to breed...

edit: As you bothered to comment on this, I'm sure you know all about hunting and how hunters help a species' population. I'm also sure you know why hunters kill older males, like this one, right?

edit2: Oh, and they are probably rare because they don't survive in the wild. As mentioned, I don't think black is an effective camo in that surrounding.

Wow - never even heard of this. I've seen an albino fawn - apparently they rarely live to adulthood. Often sickly and of course no camoflage - at least until it snows.

In my opinion, unique animals should have a "get out of hunting season alive" card. It's a rarity and having other people being able to see this deer alive seems to be worth more than it being someones trophy or dinner.

If human males had antlers with points, the market for huge trucks, fast cars and uber home computers would crash.

Here in Michigan, it is illegal to shoot an albino deer. But your definition is too vague. What is deemed unique? If I see a 5 legged deer does that count? Or a deer with a specific antler arrangement? It would have been cool if they could have captured this one and put it in a zoo or something.

If the deer could talk, I would probably agree. I don't agree based on the fact that his hide is a rare color.

Even if it gets out of "hunting season" doesn't mean it gets out of predator season. Why do you think there aren't any purple deer? The purple makes them stand out too much and attracts wolves.

"Hwey Jaeb!"
"Yeah Bubba?"
"See dat deer?"
"Whoa! Dat's one of them unqie or something type black dears, roight?"
"Yep! Dey's rare. It may be de only one of it's kind."
"What should we do?"
"Let's keel it!"
"YEE HAW!"

😛

Actually, I support hunters. I got that dialogue from looking at the picture!
