i have an older 1.2ghz celeron gateway, i just got my whole house re-networked with some wireless on it so i thought i'd add this one . i havent used it in quite awhile...anyways, i dont remember my damn pw or secret answer...no recovery disk...anything gat damnit!!! anyways, i am able to pull the harddrive from it and slave it to one of my current computers. by doing this can i go in and get the password or change it or reset it to something i can log in on the computer with??? thanks for your help.

This boot disk will reset any local password in 2k/XP without having to know the old password.

It's worth a shot. Boot to the disk, change the password, then boot to Recovery. See how that works out.

Taken from another post on this forum, in the OS category.

Not tested, but worth a shot
