Hey Boozehounds, what kind of things do you recommend for a home bar?

Just bought myself a Bar Cabinet. The one you see there is the one I bought. What kind of things are must haves for a home bar? Other than booze of course.

I'm looking into getting some of these glasses from Crate & Barrel. Direction Series Any recommendations on nice yet affordable barware?

Any other recommendations on what sorts of items I need for a bar?

Thanks!

at the very least you need a shaker, strainer, ice can. actually, that's all that most people need.

I bought my gf a nice stainless set of barware at mikasa for about $150. shaker, strainer, ice, utensils, platter. I think Crate and barrel is way too expensive for what the have. You can probably find a lot nicer set of glasses for half the cost elsewhere.

Get an ice bucket and a good stainless steel shaker.

Oh, and some nice martini glasses. I picked up a set of 4 Mikasa martini glasses for about $15 IIRC. They are pretty durable and they look nice.

How much was that bar? Looks nice.

Thanks! Those look pretty sweet. I want some glasses that have more of a "heft" to them... I'll look into it more.

make sure you have booze ;)

stir-straws are good, a muddler is pretty useful (i love them mojito's for when i'm thirsty).

make sure you have fruit on hand too if you're inclined to those drinks. Cherries, strawberries, etc.

And most importantly - Female company. ;)

Draft beer machine. (I hate all the cans & bottles in the morning, ready to testify to yesterday's fun.)

Consider getting the phone number of a restaurant supply shop in your area. They have all kinds of nice stuff and won't rip you off. You can get double jiggers and strainers for a few bucks...

Oooooh, looks nice. I'd get a couple a decent scotch like Johhny Black. A few single malts like Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. A superb vodka like Grey Goose. Maybe an expensive cognac like Remy Martin XO.

A nice cigar humidor nearby would compliment that case soo well.

Quick google shows a price of around $3,000 for that cabinet? How much was it? It looks almost exactly like what I want. Not sure about spending that much on it though

Does it have a lock on it?
