So, I'm sitting at home tonight. It's like 15 degrees out, snow on the ground, and there's nothing better to do than get liquered up, watch ROTJ, and eat a frozen pizza.

Anyways, I want to say, I believe in redepmtion and giving everyone a second chance if they screw up.

Let's admit it, George Lucas screwed up on the prequel trilogy. All three movies had serious flaws. With a little retrospection, they are little better today than they were a few years ago when first in the theaters, but still, compared to the original trilogy, they sucked, and sucked hard.

Being a person who believes in redemption. I'm willing to give Lucas a second chance. Indy 4 will probably be great since Speilberg is directing it and not Lucas, but it does give Lucas an oppurtunity to once again be involved with a *GOOD* movie. If that fat, double chinned billionaired son of a gun wants to cement his legacy and dig himself out of the hole he created he MUST, I mean MUST, create a Star Wars SEQUEL Trilogy which has as major characters, LUKE SKYWALKER, HAN SOLO, and PRINCESS LEIA. He needs to make peace with Gary Kurtz, jettison Rick Mccallum and make some history!

So do you ATOT do you agree, or am I totally full of it?

Also, do you think a sequel trilogy will happen? Y/N?

His second chance came and went with episode 2, by 3 he had gone way too far. His legacy is cemented regardless of anything else he may do. Star Wars began and ended with the original trilogy, anything new will suck.

The man has lost the ability to come up with an original and interesting idea.

yup.. totally agree.

he sold out with the prequels. everything was designed to be ported over to video gaming. the pod racing, the converyor belt scene, etc.

it was like one big commercial for Lucas Gaming.

I do certainly hope not, my good fellow forum member. (Dear god, let someone other than Lucas write the dialog.)

I'd be wary of the pattern. Episode 1 was made for children. That's the only possibility I see. The main character was a whiny little kid who missed his mommy. Other major characters were cast with stereotypical voice-acting, or very obvious "bad-guy" attributes. (Duh, gee, do ya think that Darth Maul is evil? Ooh, and Sebulba is laughing constantly. Bad guy.) And of course, everything was made to be very marketable. Podracing....marketing orgy. Models, toys, games, it's all there. And there's not much gore. A lot of the "death" that takes place is robots with comically embarrassing voices.

Episode II. A bit darker. The "hero" is a bit older, but now he's Darth Emo. "It's not fair!" now we get a few more limbs getting hacked off. The fans that saw Episode I are a bit older now, and seeing Anakin lose his right forearm really hit home. No more lovingly gripping that lightsaber in the dark of the night. The enemies are robots and non-humanoid aliens. It's always easier for an audience to accept the constant deaths of inhuman characters.

Episode III - the audience is all growed up now, ready to see some humans get hacked to pieces. They get to see Yoda go all "KILLING SPREE!!!!" in front of the sacred Jedi temple. We get to see the apparently inept Jedi get shot in the back. We get to see Mace Windu bring the finest Jedi summer interns he could find, to go arrest the Dark Lord of the Sith. We also get to see more inept Jedi in action. "OMG, Buzzdroids! It's sure too bad we don't have access to that mystical energy field that surrounds and binds stuff. I hear that it's really great for moving objects around, objects like Buzzdroids. Doo dee doo, oh well, gonna die in space."

I'd be wary of what might happen with Episodes 7-9. Or who might get cast for the characters. I'd post hypotheticals here, but I don't know enough movie star names.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith. After all, it had only been a bajillion years since the last Star Wars movie came out. I remember sitting in the theater and watching the scene where the Naboo forces were looking for an alternate route through the hangar when Darth Maul stops them dead in their tracks. That scene was so badass it sent multiple chills down my spine. Revenge of the Sith was also great because it sets up A New Hope and had some of the most agile and creative lightsaber fights not seen in previous Star Wars movies.

OK, so, what if there was a sequel trilogy and Lucas didn't direct the movies or write the dialogue. Who would be a good director?

My vote, F it, but Michael Bay, I think he'd make a good Star Wars Movie, and somehow intregrate helicoptors.

No seriosuly, what modern day director should Lucas pass the reigns over too? Peter Jackson?

2nd chances sure, but 4th chances? He screwed up THREE TIMES IN A ROW. That's a little more than bad luck right there.

Honestly, I didn't think that Episode III was half bad. He did a good job of tying everything together and leading into the original Star Wars trilogy.

I'm hoping that Indiana Jones 4 will be good after an almost 20 year wait. Hell... If Sylvester Stallone can pull off a somewhat convincing 50 year old Rocky, I guess that Harrison Ford can do the same with Dr. Jones :)

They've got plenty of material to work with in the books...the New Jedi Order storyline with the Yuuzhan Vong is perfect for an epic 3-picture arc. Granted, you'll have a lot of new faces to introduce, but I'm sure the screenwriters can work that out.

"Oh, BTW, Han and Leia got busy and had 3 super Jedi kids."

I think all of them were great. My favorite was Empire Strikes Back.

All of you whiners that did'nt like Episodes 1-3 are delusional! They were all great films! I cannot see anyone not enjoying all of them. Jar Jar was decent and an addition, live with it!

------ Hell, I did'nt like Indiana Jones Temple of Doom as much as the other Jones' movies, but it was still awesome!

Hard to compare movies that came out twenty plus years ago with ones that come out related to them now.

My opinion is, if the prequels had been the first 3 made and they were done 30 years ago, then Episodes 4,5 and 6 were done now, you'd all be saying how bad they sucked.

Come on, how is the pod race in Ep. 1 any different from the speeder/bike things flying through the forest on Endor....other than there was no way to make a video game out of them back then?

I think TPM is good. ATOC is good. ROTS is my least favorite, and probably because I read the damn book before I saw it.....I think if that was truly the last one Lucas was ever going to make, he should have gone ahead and made it 3 hours or so, a la LOTR, and tied up ALL the loose ends and everything in between.

He'll wait a few more years, then release ROTS: Extended Edition, so that everyone will pay him even more money.

Christopher Nolan helped the Batman franchise do a complete 180 and become awesome. He could be a good choice. Not that I'm expecting any more Star Wars movies.
