This is true, and is 1 of the main reasons I pushed this camera....cheaper than Sony's V1 yet will give you better pictures....hell of a deal.

I was looking at the S45. Where exactly does the S45 fit in the realm of things? Is it just an A80 + couple of things? Is it a downgraded S400? Basically where does it fit in, and how would it do for my uses (better than G3)?

OK, glad to see at least a few people like Nikons. So many choices though! Nikon, Sony, Canon, etc...

The S45 is an older model, which is kind of in-between the A80 and S400 in terms of size and features. I owned that model for nearly a year now, so I can attest that it takes great pictures. You'll want a little tripod to take the low light pictures, though.
