i bought a pair of these, Noise control silverado. still using one,and the other i have in my Dad's
computer, they are quiet,even with both the fans running at 12 volt..
If you have one you need to Clean the fins,and Fans a bit more often than like your normal
el cheapo,AMD retail hsf....
I am happy with mine,but they were pricey to get here to near Albany NY {about $60 each shipped}
and had to join paypal to get, i saved by buying 2, as shipping was about the same for 1 or 2...

I used one of these happily for quite awhile on a 1Ghz P3. I ran the fans at 6 volts. When I got the rest of my system very quiet, the Silverado seemed to make an annoying noise to me--my analysis is that I'm bothered by the whininess of small fans. Recently I bought an SVC GC68 and swapped in a Panaflo L1A that I run at 8 volts. To my ear it's much quieter, and it's only about 10-15% of the cost. CPU temps in both cases are about 82 degrees F at idle. So I agree with cavemanmoron's assessment that Silverado's are excellent, but my recent experience is that you can do even better at a lot less cost.

I bought one of these last year while looking for a hs/f that was under AMD's weight requirement of 350g. I spent about $80 to get it to Los Angeles. The Silverado lowered my 1200 TBird's temps by ~10C running at 12V (~4C @ 8V). The two 80mm case fans were louder than the Silverado. However, after adding a CDRW and upgrading to 64MB video, the Silverado couldn't keep my system stable. After discovering that you can use a hs/f heavier than 350g, I now use a Volcano7+ and have yet to go above 48C under full load (temp according to Motherboard Monitor on the off-die thermistor). It's a very nice hs, but like both of you, I know you can do better for less.
