hey,
im thinking of building mine own pc (sick of crappy celeron!) and was wondering just how difficult is it? It will be the first time so im a little apprehensive. Anyhow im thinking along these lines....

Athlon Tbird 1.2
Abit kt7a
elsa gladiac 920 geforce 3
soundblaster 5.1 live
256mb pc 2100 ram
40 gig hard drive

anyone got any ideas or advice please help

Heres what i recommend.

1.2ghz t-bird (your choice on speed not changing that)
EPOX 8k7a (AWESOME MOBO)
Acoustic Edge sound card (or santa cruz)
256mb crucial ram ddr 2100 (512 if u can afford it)
CardExpert / Gainward GeForce 3 64MB
IBM 40GB 7200RPM #IC35L040AVER07

most that stuff can be bought from newegg.com

i think your system looks fine, any upgrades from that arent needed (512 ram wouldnt hurt at these prices), but you dont NEED to get a better soundcard or a different mobo, that mobo is fine

Anyway, I would say your proposed specs look fine. The motherboard is not the "best" but it is by no means poor, I used to have one, and it's great and stable.
