My friend has a hewlette packard and wants to reformat his hard drive. My question is are his drivers in windows explorer or somewhere on the two start up discs?

How old is the PC? If it is more than a year or two old, then there is a very, very good chance that windows 98 will autodetect and install drivers for you.

If it's a newer PC, then you can probably pull all of the drivers off of HP's website and do a "normal" win98 install and then install the drivers that you downloaded.

If you do a recovery from the HP disks, then the drivers should load themselves.

It's a month old.I never did this to a computer that had all the drivers installed for you with a start up disk,I built mine myself. My friend wants everything off his hard drive so he can partition it and just put what he wants on it,not all the crap it came with.
