This seems only pretty warm/hot because of all those iomega deals that have been floating around. But for anyone who's missed the previous deals, this one doesn't seem too shabby. 4x seems a little slow though, but who uses rewrite anyways. ;)

Since there is rebate involved, Staples is not going to pricematch with their competitor unless the price after rebate is still higher than the competitor's price

Bought this same drive when OfficeMax had the drive for 99 beans. PMed it at Staples and used the 30 off 100 and paid a total of 77 beans for it! Didn't understand why people didn't jump on this then and are jumping all over this one now. Should be able to find a cheaper price to PM with. Don't worry about the rebate thing, just keep calling and eventually you'll find one that will give it to you. I usually PM really late at night. I have never had to call twice for any PM ever! Always worked like a charm for me.

Drive
Rebate

Went through a few CSRs so far. Seems like they got it together on this deal and won't pricematch because of the rebate. I heard some talk that the only reason that the rebate was created was because of the pricematching to OfficeMax. I guess they figure that some might not send the rebate in. I'm going to keep trying but it doesn't look good for the pricematch.

I did get this when they were $77 and sold to a few friends of mine. Now some others want one. Still, at $100 it's still a good deal.

If I didn't already have one of these, I would PM staples for the Plex 16x at newegg.com. I know I can get this drive for around 170 after the PM and the -40 off 200 coupon. However, I just can't justify spending that much when I just don't need the dang thing. Although to be able to burn a full CD in 3 minutes instead of 5 is very tempting!:D

Well, persistance pays off.

No joke, after 15 calls, from yesturday afternoon until this morning, I finally got a Staples.com CSR to pricematch it.

Price after pricematch: $129.99
Coupon: $20 off $100
Rebate: $50

Total: $59.99 + tax
