"He's just a Mexican bike cop! He only wants your autograph."

Parker, Longoria clash with cop

December 27, 2005

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, in happier times after the Spurs' NBA championship victory in June, had a run-in with a bicycle police officer Saturday in San Antonio. (ERIC GAY/Associated Press)

Take a star athlete, a famous actress, a bicycle cop, a vehicular incident, mix in some racial tension and what do you get?

A traffic violation that's better suited for a prime-time soap opera.

That's the plight of San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker and his girlfriend, Eva Longoria, star of ABC's "Desperate Housewives."

Parker was cited Saturday in San Antonio for impeding traffic and failing to produce a valid Texas driver's license during a traffic stop.

An officer on a bicycle saw Parker's stopped car holding up traffic early Saturday and rapped the hood with his hand, according to a police report. Parker, behind the wheel as Longoria sat in the passenger's seat, questioned why the officer touched the car, and the couple "began screaming in a verbally abusive and demeaning manner," police said.

And that, according to reports, is when it got ugly.

Police said Parker began to drive away, almost hitting a man nearby. After being told to stop and get out, Parker showed a French driver's license, police said. Parker was born in Belgium and raised in France.

The officer who wrote the citations said Parker complained: "This is all the cops do, just mess with people," and that Longoria shouted from the car: "He's just a Mexican bike cop! He only wants your autograph."

Longoria called the police report "highly inaccurate" and denied making the comment.

"It's a shame that one officer conducted himself in such an inappropriate and disorderly manner," Longoria said through her publicist. "I never made any sort of racial slurs, let alone made any comments about the officer being Mexican, as a Mexican myself."

You just can't make this stuff up. Or can you?

So, who do you believe? The cop or these two?

Yeah, a bicycle cop high on power decides to ruffle up a couple in a car (assuming he didn't even know they were celebrities) far more expensive than the officer makes in a year just for sh1ts and giggles.

Longoria is mexican...I don't know if she said all that. Tony Parker is usually a stand up guy as well. Could be the police officer just trying to make a name for himself.

I don't buy it. Like she said, why would Longoria use an ethnic slur when she is the same?

"Mexican" is an ethnic slur now?

Anyways, living in Corpus Christi at the same time as Longoria, most all the hispanics referred to each other as "Mexican". More of a racial/ethnic thing than a nationality thing.

Cop probably saw them making out in the car.
Decided to show how manly he was.
Stopped the car, revealed his package, then made up false allegations to cover up his crime.

I also was under the impression that Tony Parker was supposed to be a decent guy off the courts.

I believe the cop. I bet Longoria did say he was just a Mexican police officer. I also think its strange of the police officer to put his hands on the car. That probably was not necessary. Probably the whole situation is the result of the police officer and the couple having problems asserting themselves to each other in an effective manor.

Mexican-Americans rip on Mexicans all the time. You wouldn't believe how much people from the same ethnicity can deride each other.

you should hear what my hispanic friends say about mexicans...

"Mexican" is an ethnic slur now? by Queasy

yea for some people it is. its a put down or insult when a hispanic calls somebody no matter the race a "Mexican"

I don't see why most of you are automatically siding with Eva and Tony, none of us were there so we don't exactly what went down. If she was slightly less attractive people would be more apt to believe the cop.
