I had one at my last office and want to buy one for home use but 1k decked out is a little ridiculous for a chair. I'm wondering if any of the Herman Miller Aeron copy cat or knock off ones you see at Staples any good? And what exactly is that comfy webbing called? I used it for 2 years and it held up but I'm thinking the cheapo ones at staples won't hold up. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks

The ones at Staples generally no, because most of them are pretty low end. There are some mid-priced ones that are decent though.

Note, I have a Herman Miller Aeron at home, and quite frankly I find my noname chair at work more comfortable.

I had a herman miller at work and the netting was fine. However, I think a good foam cushion is actually somewhat better. The herman miller mirra is a piece of junk and is extremely uncomfortable.

I'm always amazed at how much momentum some products get even though they're not very good. I've used the Herman Miller chair and frankly, prefer just about most chairs you'll find to it as they're not all that comfortable and extremely expensive. I'd say these are the "Bose" of chairs, popular with people who have more money than sense.

ive gotten my last 2 office chairs from staples, about $250 each and it got me very nice chairs both times. to me, the important thing is 3 levels of adjustment (height, seat tilting, and back angle). the full mesh chairs they had that i liked were well more than 250 but they were very comfy, just out of my budget.

thats what i have now, paid 200 or 250 for it iirc. memory foam seat, pretty dense and very comfy, not much adjustment in the arms though (just up and down)

thats similar to the other i had. i like the sealy more (more arm adjustments) but me and the gf broke it...and they didnt have another when i went to get a replacement.

Thats funny, I have a mirra and an aeron at home and vastly prefer the mirra.
Different strokes and all.

Love my Herman Miller - They breathe, hate fabric because they get hot.

I use the mesh bottom and hard plastic back one - Mirra.

I also have a Mirra, sitting in it now, TBH i don't like or dislike it over the aeron which i have at work, its pretty much the same damn chair

mesh bottom - hard plastic back here as well

One of the tenants for our building had a pretty substantial systems furniture package. Rather than shell out for the Herman Miller Aeron chairs, we went instead with the SitOnIt Focus to cut back on cost. I've sat in one and it seems pretty damn comfortable to me.

My $300 Staples mesh knockoff has done amazingly well over the years, unfortunately I don't think they sell it anymore. My stock advice - for something that you spend so much time in, that will last 5-10+ years, a good chair is worth the investment.
