Herman Miller Chairs

Specifically the Aeron and Equa 2

Also what about HAG Chairs?

Specically the Capisco Task Chair

I need a good chair, this cheapo is falling apart and is uncorftable as hell. I don't really want to spend $600 on a chair, but if it is super comfy and will last a good long time (the herman miller comes with a 12 year warranty), I'll pay. Any other suggestions for chair welcome?

If you spend any prolonged time in front of your computer, I think you should get it. From the reviews I've read, this chair is GREAT. If I ever need to buy a new computer chair, I would seriously consider buying this mother. $600 spent is worth saving my bad back as well as improving my computer using experience.

can you believe the cost of a office chair!? i was looking for a new chair because mine was getting uncomfortable too. now i know why this is a billion dollar a year industry. 1-8 hundred for a chair. of course cheap is cheap, and at the end of the scale we are looking at a chair that has won design awards. between the aeron and leap, there are tons more but who knows how good they are. i wish there was a bang for the buck chair that would be comparable to the "bang" of the old celeron 300A craze. hope you get the chair of your dreams. although, i am sure you will let us know if you do.

please, someone report they found the best task chair for $200!

:)

I have the HM Aeron chair at work. I think it is O.K. -- but not worth $800. About a year ago, we had the option to purchase these chairs for our homes. We were permitted to purchase them at the company discount. I believe the price was $550 or $570 to have the chair delivered and set up in your home. Some of my co-workers have had problems with this chair wearing out their pants. The webbing / fabric of the seat area is a bit abrasive on pants -- especially in the area where your wallet is placed in your back pocket.

I looked at the LEAP also, anyone ever used it?

I'm really haveing a hard time picking out a chair. If I didn't live in po-dunk montana, I could easily find a chair in a store and try it out. But all we have are Office max/depot. They sell CRAP chairs!

dl: Ya true but you don't have a 3 day product cycle with chairs. Still $600 is pretty hefty.

I have one of those high back "executive" that I have been using for several hours a day, almost every day, for the past 2 years straight, and it has given me zero problems. It was only 100 bucks at Sams Club, a pretty damn good deal.

I work in tech support, so I am answering emails all day. My company just got us all the Aeron chair. I only wish I could get one for home use. They offered a buy in for us the last time they bought chairs...only $565 still about 500 more than I am willing to spend on a chair. These chairs are so nice though. They have adjustments everywhere! Nobody complains about having a bad chair at my work!

For a while, I went in every palce that sold chairs, every office store, every department store, every furniture store, and sat in every computer chair I could find. THen, one day, in Florida, I ran across the CHAIR OF MY DREAMS in Service Merchandise. It was an un-assuming chair...no leather or crazy high-back or anything..... Just a big, solid chair. I sat in it, and COULD NOT BELIEVE the quality and comfort. I learn, play, and most importantly, WORK at my computer ALL DAY long every day, and I have been using this chair for over a year now. It was $100.00 at Service merchandise, although I think it was possibly on sale. I don't know the brand/model unfortunately, but I can describe it. It has a wide back and seat, brown woven fabric, adjustments for seat height, seat tilt, seatback rock/no rock, seatback height, armrest height (VERY important for me to be able to have extremely high armrests because of my carpal tunnel), and everywhere that is not brown fabric is matte black. Like I said, not the flashiest of chairs, but I woul dnever recommend ANY chair over this one, and I like to think I HAVE tried them ALL.
