I was basically wondering if i was screwed over in my other thread after flashing to the most current version of my Bios, in order to try to get it to support a 1gb stick of Ram i had recently purchased. Anyway, i just want to get this computer back up and running for the most part. I will tell you what occurs.

I believe like the first time i started my computer after flashing the bios was it said that it failed, and i of course, chose to proceed, anyway, it gets the the screen where you choose either to go to "last known good configuration, safe mode, normal.." and all those choices, i can select any of them , and it crashes and restarts my computer almost instantly?

My components are... 70gb raptor harddrive. abit kv8 max3, amd 64 3000+, just a 512mb stick of Kingston value ram (ddr400).

I just would like any definitive answer, am i screwed? Should i just reflash it, because i want my new stick of 1gb (ddr400) geil ram to work with my mother board. Or is there anything that can be done to try to make the system compatible with the new bios. I figured it would go smoothly.

Also: I used the Flashmenu program provided by Abit, and of course it didn't work out as easily and flawlessly as promised. I hope for a prompt-ish response, if not ill try to keep flashing my bios until smoke starts coming from my computer, or it works!

Thanks for the time. (seek icon for how i'm feeling at this moment in time)

Here is some hopefully helpful additional information.

So i got down on my hands and knees and cleared the cmos memory with the jumpers, and now it loads up to the post screen, and it says, "CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded"...

(i think this may have been what it said the first time i used flashmenu...so maybe the flashing was never successful?)

If so, should i just try to flash it with the latest version again, not using that damnable flash menu program?

The defaults still crash the same as they did before. Thx.

If your getting to the "safe mode, normal, last known..." menu then you should be able to just flash the old bios back. If I were you I'd probably try downloading whatever bios you had when it worked and flash it back the way it was.

I don't think your screwed though because the POST is succeding and the OS is starting to load. If you pop a boot disk in the floppy drive you should be able to get a prompt.
